Re: Life expectancy increasing

I have heard that mortality among European descended people has increased.  Especially among whilte males, who are committing suicide much more often.

My best friend did that in 2004, and he had never been suicidal until after he retired.  This is one reason I am cautious about retirement.

Blech...when I read this post, all I could think of was my dad, who has dementia, wears adult diapers, and thinks his stuffed animal toy is his real dog. No thank you! I feel blessed to have him, but when I think of the man he was, I could bawl. Meds are literally keeping him alive. I hope I croak before I am in his state.

Re: Life expectancy increasing

There's a good chance that the upcoming generations will live longer, only if they keep as far away as possible from unecessary chemicals.  (Their air, skin, foods, fabrics, etc., etc.).  Better to start from the beginning, than have to search for cures later on.   jmo, of course.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Anyone remember the old Bobby Darin song,

"Methuselah lived nine hundred years..."

The old saying was that we start dying right after we are born .  It's what you do in between that matters.

And...

If you're not busy living, you're busy dying.

I'm not referring to life experiences,

I'm speaking of medications & quality of life.

Not Living Longer, but Dying Longer.

Neither was I. I knew what you were referring to.  It's much more than that and not that simple.

Re: Life expectancy increasing

We are living longer but more importantly, we are living active, healthy lives as we age. I read somewhere that "middle age" has been extended to 70 because in realitly people in their 60's are no different than they were at 50.  I think of what my grandparents were like at 60something and I think of what my friends are like at that age and it's sort of mindboggling.  People just don't get "old" anymore.  The way they did even a generationg ago.
