Neuroadaption occurs when drugs continually artificially stimulate
our brains. Same patterns occur with a destructive diet.
It’s amazing how one is connected to the other.
The Pleasure Trap by Dr. Doug Lisle explains it so much better
than I could attempt here. Amazing read...highly recommend.

O..K. but the thread was still about rising deaths related to drugs, not destructive diets due to neuroadaption. That, IMO, would be another thread. (IS there a rise in deaths from this?)

I was trying to expand the conversation to the causes of drugs/suicide.
Until the reasons are discussed, it’s just a bunch of numbers.
Unforunately, no one (on a national level) wants to discuss the
reasons why & how it can be fixed because many powerful
companies depend on that nutritional mental destruction
to make shareholders happy. Food is the foundation of
everything we do. It all ties together.

@Vivian wrote:Too many people, particularly the elderly on fixed incomes, have to decide between medication or food, or housing. This should not be happening. We can’t seem to be able to solve our problems anymore. We are all in this boat together and if we don’t focus on the well-being of our people, we’ll all sink.
But it's not the elderly who are dying of opioid abuse.

I am so sorry @Nightowlz. I've heard about the horror of shingles and how physically painful it is. I know emotional pain especially when you don't have your health is no joke either.

What about obesity affecting this life expectancy age? I think that would very much affect general health and how well the body can handle being obese...a real problem today.

I would be interested to know how much neuroadaption (neuroadaptation?) in diet is related to drug abuse and suicide.
I know that there are certainly other reasons for both, and the other reasons are unrelated to diet.
Unless you think that ALL reasons relate back to diet. In which case, I would disagree. Or, at least I wouild require some data to show that to be true. Not just a book discussing the neurological effects of diet.

Stress doesn't help either.
Commuting/driving, extreme bantering, arguing, etc., etc.
Just watching the news raises my blood pressure. (Lucky it's very low to begin with.)
Lots of stress just about everywhere.

I know of two personally who lived with chronic pain that was managed by controlled doses of opioids. Those were taken away and all other efforts to manage their pain failed to bring any relief. They committed suicide. One in his 60s, the other in her 70s. I'm sure there are many others.
Then, a college-aged grandson in good physical health of a personal friend committed suicide earlier this year. He was diagnosed and being treated for depression and stress/anxiety. No drug abuse in his history.
These are very tragic findings and I don’t doubt their validity. 😰
