Warnings coming in from CNN to evacuate.
I am sorry, I am not familiar with place names to list them but they are going over it on CNN. Water rising quickly.

@Noel7- we're watching CNBC and they just announced this. This is all terrifying. And heartbreaking.

Oh my goodness, it just gets worse every minute. I feel for people in the affected areas.

I'm not familiar with this (lived in Houston 35 years) and it's a resort and golf course community about 50 miles South of Houston. Must be a private man-made lake.

i heard Houston authorities yesterday in announcements give strong alert to people in this area due to controlled water release by Army C of E at that point. They outlined what to be alert to, and suggested that those who felt their situation might be dangerous voluntarily evacuate then. i hope people did just that.

Ever heard about the 1900 Galveston Hurricane? All others pale by comparison. They later raised the entire city by 17ft and built a seawall.
The Great Galveston Hurricane was a Category 4 storm, with winds of up to 145 mph (233 km/h), which made landfall on September 8, 1900, in Galveston, Texas, in the United States, leaving about 6,000 to 12,000 dead. It remains to the present day the deadliest natural disaster in US history.
