The other night Letterman had a rapper on his show as well as a new comic both of which were terrible, imo. It was like his producer was trying to keep up with Fallon but honestly I think Letterman should have just stayed the course as I think there will always be a market for his type of show...especially when Fallon gets stale and has already.
