Maybe Leno could replace him. Just kidding but I thought Letterman would have left after that fiasco when it came out he was hitting on the women on his staff and having affairs with them. I never looked at him in the same way again. And his show is stale now and in need of a replacement.....

I felt exactly the same. He made fun of anyone famous who got caught with their pants down, and all along he was doing it himself. I just didn't like him anymore.

And then, he made fun of himself. He never denied it. In fact, he broke the news to the audience and the population on his show, and in the process, he stopped the man who was trying to blackmail him. He did something that can't be admired and it was his problem to mend fences with the mother of his child. Apparently she forgave him. I don't think he's the first showbiz guy to so what he did, and he won't be the last.

I think Billy is great and very funny, but I bet they'll choose somebody younger.

I'd miss The Report but Stephen Colbert would be fantastic.

Hallelujah, I am so delighted. It's been time for him to leave for a long, long time.

You guys can quit thinking about Chelsea Handler as a replacement. Her show has been dropped itself. Seems nobody likes her, She's too crude as a female talk show host and wasn't pulling in the numbers. She got her walking papers.

People's indiscretions aren't all he makes fun of. As a comedian, I'd expect that, anyway. The fact is, Letterman evolved into a mean-spirited, grumpy old man who made a habit of making his guests uncomfortable, and turned the show into yet another left-leaning diatribe--something Johnny Carson, BTW, never did (and he was one of Hollywood's biggest liberals). The job of a host is to make a guest comfortable, not make them uncomfortable. It's also not a agood idea to alienate half of your audience. That seemed to escape Letterman ever since he was kitty-whipped by Madonna.

Would it be Stephen Colbert the character or Stephen Colbert the real person?

Total BS, but that comment was your entire reason for posting. And by the way, Johnny was NOT Hollywood's biggest liberal.

She IS in talks with CBS about a talk show, according to a story I saw on Yahoo.
