Leave the handle up or down when not in use?

Hi all, i just bought my first keurig-its amazingSmiley Wink I was wondering though, is it better to have the handle up, or down when not using it? will it harm the machine if i leave the handle down? I just dont want dust to get inside if i leave it open, but im afraid it will burn out if i leave it down all the time-any thoughts? thanks in advance
