Yes, I remember the stickers.

I don't think I ever knew the name, but they remind me of the VW Bus, back in the day, so I feel like I saw them on those vehicles.  Smiley Happy

Was that yours?  It looks a lot nicer in that color, but those wheels remind me of mine.  The worst part was that it was brown!  I think it had some kind of thin stripe, or stripes along the sides.   I don't care for brown as a decorative color at all.   Still don't know what I was thinking.  Smiley Very Happy

Sitting on Daddy's lap as soon as I could stretch and peep over enough to see the road.  He would let me steer with one of his hands hovering over the wheel or on it.  I remember crying the first time he didn't hold the wheel when an on coming car passed up.

Drove everywhere on the farm roads and fields and pastures.  When I was 14 had to get a friends car backed out when she got wedged in at the drive in on a Friday night.

My dad was on me all time riding shotgun when I was driving.  "Go around him!"  "Don't stop so hard, slow down sooner" and on and on.  Now I bless my husband with his road "wisdom!"  Woman LOL

I had a brown Datsun too and one day a kid who was speeding rear ended me and  the car folded like an accordian. I couldn't open my door and a police officer had to do it for  me to let me out. No  injures though as it happened while I was at a red light and my foot was on the brake. My Datsun did veer into the car in front of me and boy was he peeved but hey not my faullt...go scream at the kid who ran into me!!

Re: Learning to Drive

[ Edited ]

For various reasons, I didn''t learn to drive until I was in my 50's.

My father got a new car and I "inherited" his old one .... with instructions to learn to drive.

My aunt found me a driving instructer .... Driving lessons every Saturday morning for a few weels.  Aunt took me to practice in the shopping center parking lot ... if I recall, I got my license in about 3 months.  I hated driving .... but I had to do it for a couple of years.

When I moved into Manhattan (no car needed) .... I passed my car along to my niece, and turned in my driver's license for a state ID.

I didn't learn to drive till my kids were ready to start school..No school bus in the city where we were..DH bought me a brand new Ford Maverick as a wedding present(5 yrs.earlier) and it was supposed to be an incentive for me to learn to drive...LOL ..He drove it.

Took lessons from a driving school..after a few lessons in the school car( he had a brake pedal)..He said DH should take me out in "our" car..BAD mistake!.. All he did was tell I was doing something wrong...I pulled the car over got out near a phone booth(remember those?)..Called a cab to take me home!..I left DH in the car...Never went out with him in the car again!..P.S. I passed the road test first time...something DH said would never happen!

@occasionalrain

I googled the spelling before I posted and yes, they are still available.  Just seeing them again brings back memories of my teenaged craziness and my sweet mom who indulged me.
