Can I ask a stupid question?
(at this point my Dad would say, "yes, better than anyone I know"
)....
When you see a post with just the poster's name and nothing underneath it, does that mean they hit post by accident? Or did they delete the content but left the blank post?
I'm curious if that means we have no way of deleting a response that we post, other than remove the body of the post...?

In my case, I've done it for both.
A reply was a mistake or it so took my breath away, silence was golden. Sometimes, nothing said (especially here) is best.
When my computer is slow I've hit post before twice with nothing in it.
Never mistake kindness for weakness <<< your signature line, is just what the editor of Readers Digest was saying this month...we need to remember KINDNESS to each other.

LOL Dad...gonna remember that one.
Yes, I think it happens now and then that you'll accidently hit submit and post a blank. But, if you see the words "last edited" in a blank post, it's a good bet that the poster had a change of heart and deleted their post, or, more precisely, they deleted the words they typed in their post.
However, you can click on the 3 grey dots in the upper right of a post and choose "delete." The entire post/box will be gone unless someone has responded to it by quoting, then you don't have the "delete" option under the 3 grey dots. At least, that's the way it works for me.
Clear as mud, eh?!

Thank you both for your replies! I was tempted to test it out but didn't want to end up making a big mess

I think that sometimes there are posters who believe they posted, and for ? reason it shows up empty. They never come back to the thread and don’t read the thread further, so they never see their blank post. There are a couple of posters where I see it fairly often - and I don’t think they deleted anything, that I can tell. I think that they think they posted something, but never see that they didn’t. This probably isn’t a really common reason, though.
Most times, if a poster decides to delete what they’ve said, they will just post “n/m” for “never mind” so people will know.
I normally just hit “Cancel” before I ever post if I’ve decided at the end of it “why bother?”
