I'm just glad Jacque will be back soon.  I don't want to speculate on her why's & what-for's, anymore than I would want people to do that about me during my own times of illness in life.  We all get them, and we all have times when we aren't quite up to snuff.  The important thing is getting back to our lives & carrying on!

Well said!

@JDJ555- I think the hosts and many people put too much information out there.  It wasn't necessary for her to comment on her health in the first place but as soon As she did that, it is open for speculation.  "Personal issues" would have been fine.  Whatever the issue, I hope she recovers fully.

Wouldn't that be nice if she COULD just say that and people would leave her alone?? However, as we've seen time and time again on these forums and apparently on her facebook page, that is NEVER enough for the nosey people who INSIST on knowing the EXACT cause of her absence or, as we see here, people will speculate ad nauseam about the cause, which can become downright hurtful. People DEMAND answers just because this person is onair they think it is their RIGHT to know. It is sick, imo. Just because your job is in the public eye does not give anyone the right to badger a person to death about their personal life and why they haven't been on air lately and people should respect a simple "personal issues" answer and leave her (and anyone else) alone.

@HappyDaze

Very well said! I agree 100%!

@KingstonsMom- but the hosts start the conversation....they call themselves "public figures" and QVC wants customers to feel like "family"  Once the host puts health information out there, it's fair game.  Just say you are out for personal reasons.  Privacy laws are out there for a reason, legally, you are not to even give your employer the reason for your illness. TMI out there.

@Stray

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Just because a person is a "public figure" does not mean they lose all rights to their privacy.

An explanation that they will be away for a while due to 'health reasons', doesn't mean they're obligated to provide full disclosure, in my mind.

There are tons of "public figures", celebrities, politicians, etc., who we know nothing about their health issues, unless they choose to put it out there. Obviously Jacque chooses not to and that is her right, IMO.

As to the term, "fair game", well it's meaning speaks for itself, I think.

Per Dictionary.com:

Fair Game

noun

1.
a legitimate or likely object of attack, mockery, etc.:

(With his fat, round face, the politician was fair game for the cartoonists.)

@KingstonsMom- I don't think people are mocking or attacking the host.  People are concerned and care.  I wish her well.  The point I  was making was that she felt compelled to give any information at all.  If you start a conversation about your health, people feel it is fair to ask questions.  Viewers feel a familiarity because they see a person regularly and worry when that person isn't there.  When you declare yourself a "public figure" and you throw out a bread crumb, people will follow it.  I am not a loyal follower but some people may be?  They may follow her on FB and feel that they are "friends".  That is the drawback of technology and how much or how, and how often we use it....the owner of the information controls the flow and the amount of privacy he/she chooses to give up or retain....but, if you start a dialogue, it is FAIR that you expect a response or questions....it is up to the individual if he /she answers or divulges more..."fair game" in this context doesn't mean to mock or hurt in any way.

I found out from my cardiologist when I told him I was short of breath and my bones hurt. He ran the test and foubd my levels extremely low. I was prescribed mega dose of it and then maintenance dose when the levels came back to normal, I didn't miss a day of work. I would think there is something else going on in her life to miss this much time.

@60sgirl- yes, many Americans, in particular suffer from Vitamin D deficiency and it is usually part of a routine blood panel now.  With skin cancer awareness and use of sun block, the occurrence has increased dramatically.  It is easily corrected, is not innocuous if prolonged but usually not debilitating if diagnosed early and it usually is.   It doesn't take months to correct in the USA as we also get Vitamin D from other sources as well, it has become part of routine blood panels and diagnosed early.  A good orthopedist and specialty hospital does vitamin d levels routinely if you experience a fracture or prior to orthopedic surgery.  I think JG did have a break recently, I think and probably learned then.

@Stray it's never part of a rotuine blood panel where I receive my care at Cleveland Clinic. Only CBC, CMP, lipid profile and if symptoms warrant a TSH. The PCPs do not routinely order vitamin D levels, I checked my chart online today and mine was checked in 2011 by my cardiologist. It has not been checked since and that's in 5 years of seeing doctors there. I checked it to see when it was done, what was prescribed, and when it was rechecked, It was done in March, I got a prescription, and then it was checked again in July and the levels were then within normal range.

I agree that no one needs to divulge personal health information, but it seems they all do anyway. We hear about breast cancer, miscarriages, car accidents, broken legs, foot surgery and so on. Jacque followed the trend but it seems it led to speculation because low D levels don't by themselves cause anyone to miss work for months.

I go to the Cleveland Clinic as well and it's not part of my routine blood work either.  Neither is thyroid testing.  I have never had my vitamin levels or my thyroid tested but this year when I go for my yearly bloodwork, I am going to request they check all that.

@Lipstickdiva- as said routine for us and my insurance carrier has paid 100% for some time of so it's considered a routine/accepted panel.

Re: Latest on Jacque Gonzales?

Clarification for anyone worried about the video Jacque posted from her car:  I saw it, and I can assure you she was NOT driving.  The car was parked, and the impression I got was that she was probably just killing time while waiting for a family member to return to the car, & might have had an impulse to reach out to share with people who have been kind enough to support her during this time, or something benign like that.  If she deleted it, then she probably simply thought better of it, is all.  No big deal.

I know when I'm ill, I have said or done something I probably wouldn't have done if I had been 100%.  I'd hate to have people lining up to slap me for it, 3 Stooges style.  Honestly, the video was no big deal--haven't we all posted something & thought better of it afterwards, & gone back to delete it?  I know I have.  That doesn't mean we were off our rockers or that it was a terrible or suspicious post; we just think better of it, aren't 100% happy with it, decide to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, or just aren't up to the big long explanations that might come out of it.  I mean, look what happened anyway.  If I had dozens or more people suddenly judging me on a post that I had already thought better of & deleted, how would I feel?  The internet sure doesn't give us much wiggle room for error, does it?  I think a more appropriate name for the WWW is World-Wide Judge & Jury; no facts necessary, let's just punish for the possibility of wrong-doing!

Some posts have been understandably concerned for Jacque's safety, or the safety of others (if she had been filming while driving, which she was not.)  Other posts have been unkind, harsh or hateful enough to be removed by moderators.  When someone is going through a crisis, it can be a very terrible thing to have people make harsh judgements of them.  It can feel like a physical pain to read such remarks, as I'm sure many people who have been victims of attacks from mean-spirited forum trolls know how that feels, themselves.

No one is a super-human, & I think people forget that those in the media lime-light are just as human as we are. They aren't mythical-gods.  In the end, we're all just human beings who can make mistakes, or not be 100% on-point some days.  That's really all this was, IMHO.  No need for stone-throwing or joining a crucifixion mob; no crime was commited, here.  Frankly, I wouldn't want to be part of a crucifixion or stoning mob, anyway.  That would oftentimes make my crime worse than the supposed 'offense' of the person being nailed to the cross or stoned, wouldn't it?  At least, I think so.  And I am already second-guessing whether I should post these thoughts or not, risking being stoned for it, myself.  But I'm wearing my www kevlar & staying behind bullet-proof glass today,

so hopefully I'll survive any attacks.

I'm with the camp who think Jacque is entitled to her privacy and probably gave out a little too much info. It is her life, but it can open her up to a lot of unwanted advice and also criticism on message boards. It's probably best that the moderator took down her message.

If someone on a message board is asking for advice, that is one thing...but in some cases I wonder why the person just doesn't ask their doctor or go to a message board that deals with the particular issue. However, we are all unique, and some people are open books...while others are very private.

When I went to my GYN about six months ago, she told me that another specialist I see was off because he had PTSD!  I knew that he had served a couple tours of duty in Afghanastan, but I couldn't believe she told me that. That could be hazardous to a doctor's reputation. Sharing your own personal information is one thing, but sharing someone else's is just wrong.

Wrong, wrong. I cannot believe that doctor would do that, especially in her profession where confidentiality is important. Nothing amazes me anymore.

Re: Latest on Jacque Gonzales?

unfortunately, i saw this this evening 6/13/16 on facebook......hope she recovers quickly!

i hope this does not cause her to have any setbacks.

THANK YOU SO MUCH to Amy Stran QVC for filling in for me at the last minute. I was in car accident on the way to work this afternoon. I'm sore in my back and neck - who knows what the outcome will be for my car - it's undriveable. My Manager said so kindly to me that "Cars can be replaced." 😌So True. Nothing better than having my hubby and Theresa hug me when they got there. Going to get more ice for my neck and back - and Tylenol - then to bed.
Blessings to all ~
Jacque 💜🙏🏻
