When people keep things a secret, others naturally want to know especially if it is a public figure that you see all the time. Qvc hosts come across like they want to be your friend so people do become attached to them.
When they just say what is wrong, people just go on, say a prayer for them and wish them the best and there is no speculating.

@JDJ555- I think the hosts and many people put too much information out there. It wasn't necessary for her to comment on her health in the first place but as soon As she did that, it is open for speculation. "Personal issues" would have been fine. Whatever the issue, I hope she recovers fully.
Wouldn't that be nice if she COULD just say that and people would leave her alone?? However, as we've seen time and time again on these forums and apparently on her facebook page, that is NEVER enough for the nosey people who INSIST on knowing the EXACT cause of her absence or, as we see here, people will speculate ad nauseam about the cause, which can become downright hurtful. People DEMAND answers just because this person is onair they think it is their RIGHT to know. It is sick, imo. Just because your job is in the public eye does not give anyone the right to badger a person to death about their personal life and why they haven't been on air lately and people should respect a simple "personal issues" answer and leave her (and anyone else) alone.
Very well said! I agree 100%!

Oh, no they won't, we see it all the time on these forums.
The host can give 'xyz' reason for absence or change in appearance and the wild speculations begin, claiming that the reason given is not the real reason, it must be something much worse.

@KingstonsMom- but the hosts start the conversation....they call themselves "public figures" and QVC wants customers to feel like "family" Once the host puts health information out there, it's fair game. Just say you are out for personal reasons. Privacy laws are out there for a reason, legally, you are not to even give your employer the reason for your illness. TMI out there.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Just because a person is a "public figure" does not mean they lose all rights to their privacy.
An explanation that they will be away for a while due to 'health reasons', doesn't mean they're obligated to provide full disclosure, in my mind.
There are tons of "public figures", celebrities, politicians, etc., who we know nothing about their health issues, unless they choose to put it out there. Obviously Jacque chooses not to and that is her right, IMO.
As to the term, "fair game", well it's meaning speaks for itself, I think.
Per Dictionary.com:
Fair Game
noun

I'm with the camp who think Jacque is entitled to her privacy and probably gave out a little too much info. It is her life, but it can open her up to a lot of unwanted advice and also criticism on message boards. It's probably best that the moderator took down her message.
If someone on a message board is asking for advice, that is one thing...but in some cases I wonder why the person just doesn't ask their doctor or go to a message board that deals with the particular issue. However, we are all unique, and some people are open books...while others are very private.
When I went to my GYN about six months ago, she told me that another specialist I see was off because he had PTSD! I knew that he had served a couple tours of duty in Afghanastan, but I couldn't believe she told me that. That could be hazardous to a doctor's reputation. Sharing your own personal information is one thing, but sharing someone else's is just wrong.

@KingstonsMom oh gosh I know, right??? It is like a sick game of "let's guess why the the person isn't onair" with everyone trying to pyschoanalyze the hosts words, facial expressions, body language, and even the way the dress.
