Re: Last week of August, what 'cha doing this week?

We'll head to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to enjoy the scenery for a few days. Then I hope our humidity will break so I can start a kitchen project. I want to refresh our nearly twenty old cabinetry with a product I purchased at an antique store. It supposedly cleans in one step and enhances the wood color with the second step.

Re: Last week of August, what 'cha doing this week?

We’re still in master bathroom purgatory with our leaking shower. Shower floor has been torn out, shower pan removed, new tile and stuff picked out and....and...we sit and wait for the contractor to start. Their tile guy is finishing up a large job so we’re not on the schedule yet. It’s now been three weeks and two days with us not using the master bath. My patience is running thin.

My husband is coming out of a really rough patch with his health that lasted three weeks. I was tremendously concerned.  Two doctor visits to both the primary and the neurologist, two trips to urgent care and fortunately he’s mostly recovered. His health took a turn for the worse during the height of the bathroom fiasco. I was just emotionally at my limit with all of it.  Really didn’t think I could handle anymore.

Oh, and in the middle of it all, our dryer vent, which is on the roof, developed a leak and with our never ending rain during that time it was leaking into the laundry room. We’ve since replaced the dryer vent.

And now it’s my turn. My right knee, has given me trouble for the last year with a meniscus tear, but has been good lately.  Then, out of the freaking blue, massive pain and a feeling that not everything in my knee was in the correct place, if that makes any sense. I went to the orthopedist yesterday. No need for surgery. He said the meniscus is a “whole other thing” but that I have big time arthritis in the knee, as well as a knee cap that has shifted a little and we might be nearing knee replacement time. For now, we’re trying a knee brace, which I started wearing yesterday morning. No need for meniscus surgery (which I was supposed to have earlier this year but cancelled) as it won’t provide the relief I’m looking for.  So we’re trying this brace for now. I wore it for 7 hours yesterday and again today. That’s about all I could handle.

So no fun parties and trips for us this month. It’s been a really rough month. I’m looking forward to a mostly new bathroom and a calmer, healthier September, especially for my husband. I was scared there for awhile.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@qualitygal

I love Iris!

I’m working a few days and taking a few days off for a long weekend. No plans for my weekend yet but, at the very least, I’ll go to a movie. Hopefully more. And do lots at home.

Re: Last week of August, what 'cha doing this week?

Today was just a regular summer Saturday.  We went to breakfast at a diner we love in the Villarge,  wandered around the Farmer's Market.  Ran some errands and came home.  Hubby has been watching sports on tv and I have been watching stuff on Netflix. I made lasagna.   Tomorrow, my friend is hosting a birthday luncheon at her house.  She does it ever year.  It's just for her girlfriends and her mom sister.  She's an amazing cook and she cooks the meal and she does the most magical table setting and decorations.  Her mother and sister always bring the birthday cake.  The rest of us bring champagne and presents.  We all look forward to it.   It's always fun.  I totally forgot to buy her a present.  I don't know how that happened so it looks like she's going to get that tanzanite bracelet that I bought myself several months ago,  I haven't worn it.  She's a "purple girl" and I know she has a tanzanite ring so she'll love the bracelet.

One less hummingbird feeder this week.

I bought fall fertilizer for the lawns and croquet set (on clearance)

It's still hot enough to dry laundry outside.
