Mrs. Gifford chose to endanger citizens by making her public appearance where she did and without proper security. People died because of her disregard, negligence,  and lack of concern for those attending. She had received threats and, apparently, didn't take them seriously.

The only hero here is the man who saved her life.

I usually have tried to stay away from controversy as of late, but the complete and utter idiocy of your response and its inherent logical fallacy has me flabbergasted. And that is politics aside.

I think OR says these types of things to get a reaction. She really should be ignored.

I was watching the Correspondents' Dinner coverage last night.   I thought it was fun to watch people walk in at the beginning.

Then I saw Will Smith and Jada Smith walk in.   Jada was just gushing for the camera as if she was the biggest celebrity in the world.  It was sickening to watch.

What bothered me more was the press were taking her picture like she was a goddess, but right behind her stood Gabby Giffords just leaning against the wall watching her, totally unnoticed by the press.   Maybe I missed Gabby's entrance (and I'm sure she didn't mug the camera), but the irony of watching Jada stand there as if she was so important and Gabby off to the side just watching her politely.  I can only imagine what Gabby was thinking watching this woman strut for the camera.

Sorry, just needed to vent that.   Why does this event always turn into a celebrity fest?   We never even know the names of the quality press reporters that are there.  They are overshadowed by Candace Cameron and Kendall Jenner.  Jenner was called out by the President, and I'm sure she'll "tweet" that for days.   Yet, she probably couldn't name one person sitting on that dais last night.

I would have have felt the same.

If that's the case, then that is stupid, petty, childish, and immature.

For as long as I have been here, I have yet to see her say a kind word to anyone, or about anything.

She strikes me as a very angry and bitter person.

Sad, really.

I'll pray for her tonight that her soul will find happiness, love, joy and compassion.

How terrible it must be to not have that in your life.

This is my favorite post....very funny!  My two cents....I watched the entire thing, but somehow missed Jada preening, but of course don't doubt it.

I thought the POTUS was funnier than the comedian and the call out on Kendall Jenner was right on the money which is why it made the comment all the funnier.

Like the POTUS, I am still trying to figure out what ANY of the K's do, except for their exceptional ability to create drama and well....um...that other thing.

Did he really say to her (and everyone) that he still didn't know 'what she does' or something similar?

She's a successful model, and deservingly so.  It's a great profession and will pay the bills, believe me.

She said beforehand, backstage, he told her to 'say to Hi to Kim and Kanye'.   blah

If you expect everyone to share your opinion, you will be disappointed. If they did, there would be no reason to discuss anything. If you disagree with my opinion, if you can show where I was wrong about the lack of security, do so.

Attacking me, making disparaging assumptions, won't change the facts, won't prove you right and me wrong. What it will do is prevent those who want respectful discussion, where posters may disagree but accept that others have every right to express their opinion without receiving rude comments, from sharing their views.

Rubbish. People disagree here every day.

You didn't provide any facts. You just blamed one of the victims in a tragedy.

The facts were reported on every news channel and are as follows: it was held out on the street, no attempt at screnning for weapons, lack of security. The mentally ill shooter was able to just walk up with a drawn gun and shoot innocent bystanders. Who was responsible if not the person who provided that opportunity?

Who was responsible? Using your flawed logic, the shooter's parents, family, friends, professionals who knew he was dangerous? The supplier(s) of his firearms? SPalin's "crosshairs" map? The people on Gifford's team who didn't make everything perfectly safe? The people in the crowd, including other victims, who showed up without making sure everything was perfectly safe? The victims' families who could've kept their loved ones away from there? The property owners? Local LE who didn't insist on certain security? With your flawed logic the list goes on. But how many of them on that list have devoted their life after the tragedy to try to prevent more tragedies?

Hope you have enough vitriol, condemnation and disdain to cover everybody who in hindsight might've prevented the tragedy, especially every victim and the people who love them.
