@occasionalrain - are you sure you've got the right Gabby? This woman has survived a lot and carries herself with grace and courage. IMHO

Oh good grief, that dinner is cotton candy,.  It's fun, it's entertainment, it's supposed to be silly and enteraining.  A "time out" for all the serious stuff.  It's all about smchmoozinng and photo ops and repayings those $$$ campaign contributors.  We get it, you don't like this adminsisration and Will & Jada.  Who you must know personally, you have so much animosity toward them.  I suspext the fact that Potus did such an amazing job at that dinner that he was so funny and gracious and warm and human and handsome is what really bothers you......not Jada's smile.

More people want to see Jada than want to see Gabby, it's as simple as that. Both are has beens. I haven't any interest in either but, if I had to choose, I would have to go with Jada. I dislike Gabby and her tiresome husband.

@Mom2Dogs, I have no idea, but I am sure they funded MO's dress!!!

If you were right (and you weren't), then your tax dollars would have funded every FLOTUS' dress.   Yes, all of them.

Oh my.  You'd have to find something else to complain about for the current FLOTUS.  Smiley Surprised

LOL, if you all want to believe "she" bought that dress, then go right ahead, I am not that gullible! Smiley Very Happy

I doubt anyone paid for that dress or any other First Ladies' dresses.

Designer give samples just to have their names in the media.  Most of the special occasion dresses are on loan.

Having the First Lady wear a gown to a dinner like this is no different than having a celebrity wear a gown to a red carpet event.

I don't know what point you're hoping to make, but I already posted the info about the first ladies' gowns -- all the first ladies's gowns.   It really has nothing to do with being gullible.   There's no clothing allowance for any of them, and no matter who's in office the legal issues are the same.Smiley

Re: Last Night This Bothered Me While Watching

I'm not sure if Michelle has an income from any previous employment or perhaps her husband (the president) is her sole income for these 7 plus years.  Not sure.

She has some very pretty clothes, nothing over the top, imho.
