Another scary loophole in our laws is the "Fiancee Visa" and just how EASY it is to get. I'm sure the bad guys know all the loopholes very well.

Yeah, and she was allegedly "vetted." Doesn't exactly instill confidence going forward.

Having been through it myself - it's not all that easy.

If you want to be a terrorist, all you have to do is come over on a supposed "vacation." No need to fake a marriage. Just look at the 9/11 guys.

ONE person comes here, has a baby and later commits a horrible crime vs. the MILLIONS of couples who marry &  live law abiding lives.

It's just plain nuts to concentrate on this - when we allow people HERE on the terror watch list to purchase weapons...and posters here think that's A-OK.

CNN had a security expert on and he was apoplectic. He said he was shaking, watching the disaster of the world wide press marching through the crime scene. Somebody REALLY screwed up. The two terrorists are dead but they must have had associates who are still out there. Letting everyone into the apartment was lunacy.

That's a great point!  I'm sure you recall the reports about a neighbor saying about a half dozen Middle Eastern men were working at that house well into the night recently and boxes and boxes of stuff was being delivered.  She said she'd become suspicious. Further, the FBI says they were building bombs (pipe bombs?) and had a whole bunch of them in their home.

This means it didn't just involve this couple who ended up being killed by the police.  What about the other at least five or so who were on the property recently working with them?

I've been watching CNN and wondering what is wrong with the anchors' brains.  They'll conduct an interview and say oh we don't know why he did it.  Then up next will be a discussion of the evidence and even the FBI's statements that it's terrorism.  Then back to oh we don't know why they did this.  It is beyond bizarre to listen to this!  Are they just reading from a script without any thought process whatsoever?  They never even mention the neighbors' complaint about these men working late into the night with the two known terrorists recently.  THIS TELLS US THAT IT IS NOT JUST THEM unless somehow the neighbor was hallucinating.  I doubt that.

I think the FBI has discounted this neighbor's story...said so far they have nothing to back it up.

Where did you read this? I cannot find a source.

Umm hello?  If you are not a felon, under most circumstances you can purchase a weapon, being on that stupid list is not a criminal act either.  You seem to only want to abide by certain laws, and ditch the others.  We will decide what's 'nuts' to concentrate on, thanks.........

I wouldn't disagree that we should not let anyone on that watch lists to purchase weapons if there werent' a ton of totally innocent people on that list who were completely innocent and did nothing at all wrong to be on that list. Ted Kennedy was on that list and with the power and pull he had it still took over a month to get off of it. What chance does a regular person have. A former Freedom Rider was on that list, Cat Stevens, Jesselyn Radack US Dept of Justice ethics advisor that argued that John Walker LIndh was entitled an attorney was put on this list and she believes it was reprisal for whistle blowing. This isn't just a little problem, it is a huge problem with literally thousands of people being put on this list for no reason at all. When there is that many mistakes and problems with that list we absolutely cannot make a law that would prevent so many innocent people from purchasing weapons. Never should that happen.

Just wanted to say I agree with you Sydney and I was responding to Terrier. With so many completely innocent people on that list who are on it through no fault of their own, we cannot allow laws to be made that would adversely affect innocent people. That needs to be corrected immediately.

Only the shadow knows.  The TSA can put people on it for simply disgreeing with public policy.  Hardly the menace to our society that we need to address imo.  Oh and TSA doesn't like to share it with other agencies, that's how sketchy it is.  Even the FBI's Most Wanted list is adminstered in a more effective way, lol.
