There have been brothels throughout history.  Better to have them controlled with health care rather than the alternative with women enslaved, beaten and passing along disease.

LOL!  They are not tested for all infections.  For example, they are not required to be tested for herpes or HPV and condoms cannot adequately protect against either of these.

Yes, some are.  PBS did a report on the brothels and laws controlling them. Some of the women are unionized and there is help for them getting out of the business.  Better than beatings and enslavement.

If we could get rid of brothels, even better, but there has been no solution so far.

Take a look at the article under that one.  From the NYTimes, where the women say they feel safer in Nevada.

Nevada isn't the only place with brothels. Unionized and protected in some other places.

The link I provided also states that many women suffered abuse in the brothels.  Here is an excerpt.

Teri, a prostitute who has worked in a Nevada brothel (and who would like prostitution to be decriminalized), stated that "The brothel owners are worse than any pimp. They abuse and imprison women and are fully protected by the state".[42]

Re: Lamar Odom ~ Hospitalized

Didn't Lamar's best friend die of an overdose in June?  I think Khloe actually was good for him....kept him out of trouble for awhile.

Too bad...drugs were too important for him. Choosing to be numb & black out instead of living a normal life. Hoping he pulls through with a reality check.

See above.  The women prefer protection rather than being on the street.

Don't know about his friend.  I thought Khloe was good for him too and was hoping it would work out.

The other interesting aspect of legalized brothels is the testing is for the health and welfare of the customer but no such testing is required from a customer.  That is a big deal for many women...at least the smart ones.

I was just reading the article about him. I didn't realize how long he had had a drug problem.  It dates way back in his career, and the details on his life are kind of sad too. Lost his mother at 12, lost a child to SIDS, was in at least two auto accidents where someone died. Dad was a drug addict. Wow. He had talent and a career handed to him on a platter, and that just wasn't enough to stay sober and on the straight and narrow..
