Ladies please stop! Just stop.

I have never posted a blog post before, but this problem keeps coming up and has compelled me. PLEASE - STOP posting reviews for products you have not received/purchased/tried. The only reason I and many others like me turn to the reviews is to help us make an informed decision on whether or not to spend our hard-earned money on whatever product we're considering. It is not helpful in ANY WAY to see tons of reviews on a product that you admit you have never tried. I don't care what you think it MIGHT be like, I only care what you tell me it IS like. Your opinion of a product does not mean anything to me if you haven't tried it. This keeps happening and really bothers me. If you look at the new Bare Minerals foundation, for example, there are 25 reviews and it's only an advanced order which means that those 25 reviews are all from women who are giving their opinion on something they haven't even tried. I can't imagine that this is helpful to anyone. The same thing with the first review in the new GILI cardigan tank set. The person writes that she wants easy pay but won't order it. I looked at the review hoping to get an idea of the feel of the fabric, the sizing, etc. But what I got instead was only a lady complaining it was too expensive. In fact, if the review you leave isn't positive, it is only harmful to the person selling it. It helps no one.

I will step off my soapbox, but ladies, for the love of shopping, I beg of you: please, pretty please only write a review for something you have actually tried. That is the ONLY scenario in which it is worth something. Reviews are meant to help us because it comes from someone who took the leap and experienced the product. If you want to write your opinion of a product you haven't tried, do it here in the forums! Thank you.

In the case of the bare minerals foundation, is it possible they already launched in their stores, so all the reviews were from people who bought it in the stores?

Perhaps this should have been posted either in all the forums or at least in the forums that are more product centric than Viewpoints.

Re: Ladies please stop! Just stop.

Are there specific posters on Viewpoints doing this? If not, then posting here isn't going to do you any good.

Maybe you should e-mail them directly or post on another blog and ask QVC to not post those types of reviews.

Actually in the case of the bare minerals product almost all of them have "I haven't tried it myself but" in it somewhere or some form of that. Read them, you'll have a good laugh.

Re: Ladies please stop! Just stop.

There do seem to be "cults" (I don't use the term literally) that like to jump onto review certain lines and they have never even bought them- the Q could easily verify whether or not the reviewer actually purchased something ,much like Amazon does it is not difficult, and would only help the Q's credibility for consumers

the other thing I cannot stand is that something will get bad reviews, then POOF! it is gone from THAT item number and "repackage" with a different item #...
