I am watching the short program freestyle tonight. Tara Lupinski and Johnny Weir are providing commentary. I am getting familiar with the US skaters as a runup to the Winter Olympics. Anybody else watching?

@chessylady

Love all forms of ice skating, including my favorite, which is my New York Rangers NHL hockey team. Not only love watching, but have also enjoyed skating most of my adult life.

Now skating 2-3 times a week at Public Skating, for 2 hour sessions. Know a 17 year old figure skater I have watched skating, including this afternoon, that I forsee being on the US Olympic Figure Skating Team next time around. He does Triple Jumps easily(not sure of the name terminology), and 3 double jumps, 1 right after the other. Great kid, great skater.

Busy trying to get my Rangers hockey team's games(on DVR) watched. They stack up when my wife is gone on her In-home Pet Sitting jobs. We watch all of them together, so I wait until her pet sitting job is over. She just got back late yesterday afternoon from a 6 day sitting job, and left again early this morning for a 4 day sitting job.

Between my own ice skating and taking care of our own 7 pets, it cuts back on my tv watching time, and even adding posts to this Bulletin Board. Will however have our DVR going through much of the Korean Winter Olympics.

I only got to see one young lady with dark hair.  No idea of her name.  She was good.

I was a figure skater years ago and followed the sport closely. However, after a scandal led to a complicated scoring system that affected the creativity of routines, my interest waned. Also, American women, who used to be at the top of the sport, are not the presence they used to be. If I happen to find a figure skating competition while I’m channel surfing I’ll watch but I no longer go out of my way to follow the sport.

  The US Championships are on all weekend and I will be watching. My favorite has always been the pairs competition.  I do feel that some of the artistry of skating has been sacrificed over the past few years in favor of the more difficult jumps.

I watched and was pleasantly surprised.  Mirai Nagasu has a special place in my heart.  She deserved to go to the last Olympics but TPTB chose to send Ashley Wagner. (I'd hoped after her lack luster performance she'd retire, but she's back)

I am looking forward to the Dance and Men's competitions. If you look under Events on http://www.usfsa.org/ you will find the TV schedule.

The Russian training program is turning out many of the powerhouses in current ladies' competitive figure skating.
