Any of you ever see this guy? He was something. He knew it, too.

I do remember him. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Phillip was a favorite of mine. None of today's skaters come close.

Watched a bunch of Johnny Weir performances on youtube today. His skate in 2011's Fashion on Ice program to Lady gaga was amazing.

as was his skate to Ava Maria. Quite the showman but quite the talent, too.

I really like Gracie Gold.

Linders, I'm going to check out Johnny Weir's Utube skate. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for that link Linders, I had never seen those performances. I agree, Johnny really is quite the showman, he gave lots of attitude on the ice. I always loved watching him skate, and he performed to a lot of Gaga' songs. His skate to Josh Grobin's version of Ave Maria was truly beautiful. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

I wonder if there is a list somewhere of Johnny's top 10 performance fashions? Or in his case, top 100....would be hard to narrow them all down.

Ah, Phillipe. He was a great showman. My favorite male skater still remains Brian Boitano, though. I don't think I've ever seen a better death drop or spread eagle than his. Even to this day. I still get chills watching him skate to Nessun Dorma.

As for the women going into the long program, I hope Carolina Kostner has an excellent skate. She's so beautiful to watch. I will miss her when she leaves competitive skating. And I'm rooting for Polina Edmunds. I know she probably won't medal this time around, but she's fun to watch.

Awww Deb, Gracie Gold is performing now... hope you didn't miss it. She did a beautiful job. She is so lovely, her arm movements and her spins. She doesn't travel on the ice like some of them do, she stays in one spot and it's so pretty to watch.

There have been lots of beautiful performances. Team USA is doing good against Czech too. I keep flipping back and forth. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

Hey Jules - I got to see Gracie's performance. She was GREAT!

Hey Deb, glad to hear that you got to see Gracie skate, she really was lovely. The free skate program really is going to determine all of this, very exciting.

Sidenote, since Linders had posted some of Johhny's performances I came across his interview on Bethenny's show. Since I never watched many of her shows I missed it, and Johnny was on with his husband. It's quite the cute interview... about 9mins and his husband comes out about halfway through. For anyone that isn't familiar, Johnny and Bethenny had quite the dispute when she was on that show "Skating with the Stars" and Johnny was a judge. She didn't care for his criticism and both said some unkind things... so people thought they would forever have this feud. They explained themselves, hugged and made up, and Johnny was really endearing, plus he wore great boots. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} He and his husband could not be more cute. If you haven't seen it, and are a JW fan it is worth the watch. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

I know Ashley isn't one of the more popular skaters, but I really enjoyed hearing Pink Floyd during her performance. Not typical for women's figure skating and a welcome departure from the more traditional selections.
