Re: Lack of information about diamonds they are selling

Chickenbutt I have those little diamond earrings too.... can you remember the carat weight for those?  I know the 14k gold on them are decent as well as the butterfly clasp. I'm still enjoying them too!

I think it's only the "Vault Discoveries" that list color and clarity. BTW often times you're not going to get a grading on small melee diamonds from department stores or even jewelry stores. It costs too much. Most are going to be I2, I3. Personally I'm glad to see the Q finally giving specifics on at least some of the diamonds.

Re: Lack of information about diamonds they are selling

I wasn't referring to a piece that has 25 or 30 tiny little diamonds - the piece I was referring to had 5 diamonds and cost $1500. I see it sold out too. When you are spending $1500 for something you deserve specific information. I would never consider buying such an expensive piece of jewelry from QVC.

Re: Lack of information about diamonds they are selling

"Investment Quality" is not a term that would be considered for small stones, as they would have little value for resale.  Women like them because they can be pretty in a nice setting or design.  I don't like that they are putting so many diamonds in silver.  Silver is "soft" and you can easily lose the stones.

One thing I appreciate about the shopping channels is, they're up front about other stones being "lab created or lab grown".  Most of the time, jewelry stores don't mention this fact.  Actually, most stones are lab grown now, but it's rarely mentioned.

It's my opinion that most jewelry stores now sell just a lot of junk with higher prices than the shopping channels, unless you go to a very high end jewelry store with the prices to match.

Re: Lack of information about diamonds they are selling

There was a time when I bought a lot of silver and I have gotten many Arte de Oro pieces as well. I found them for better prices than I could out in other markets but that was years ago.

I would not buy any diamonds or even gold from the Q now because it is a lower grade. The gold I have gotten from the Q within the last 5 yrs feels differently than other gold I get from my local jeweler, other brick and mortar stores and Ebay. It just feels light and really tinny and I haven't kept anything. Over the past 2 yrs I have bought about 20 or so pieces from Gem Shopping Network. Platinum, 18k mostly with gemstones. I have gotten morganite, emeralds, diamonds and a few other gemstones I like. Mostly from their estate collection. I take them all immediately to get appraised and put on my insurance policy and I have to say, I have gotten some great deals. My jeweler has really been impressed too.  I find the Q find for silver and stuff like that but their gemstones are almost always of low quality. I got a tanzanite ring from the Q a couple of years ago. It was probably the worst quality tanzanite I have seen. Such a pale pale color. I sent it back immediately. Now of course the prices I am paying at the Q versus GSN are a lot different but the quality is also much better. I don't want to spend $300 of a cheap gemstone and tinny gold ring, I would rather spend $1k or more and get a good quality ring. I realize that is not what everyone wants but at one point the Q did have some decent quality jewelery for people who wanted it, now even if you spend a lot more, the quality still isn't there.

People aren't spending as much money on jewelery anymore, they would rather spend it on technology and that is fine. The Q simply isn't catering to people who want nice jewelery anymore so I think you would have much better luck finding places that do. I don't consider Affinity anything more than cheap diamond dust.

If you don't want to buy it then don't. Pretty simple.

Sorry I didn't see you earlier.  I was offline for a couple of hours, having my internet upgraded.

Anyway, I really don't.  I want to say something like 1/3ctw but I'm not sure.  It's been so long.  They are quite tiny but, all together with the flower shape, they don't look tiny.   I also appreciate that the 14k gold is good quality and the findings are well-built.

Geez, we've probably had them for some 10 years or so maybe?  But, hey, gold and diamonds - will last forever.   I have 10x loupes and a 30x loupe and, looking at them, they are very nice little diamonds.
