Re: LOUVRE MUSEUM HAS RE-OPENED

The Louvre is a must-see. But for anyone that does visit, try to do it at a time when it's not hugely crowded.

I have to say, though, that I absolutely love the Musee d'Orsay. And that is really saying something because on our walk from our apartment to the museum, I stopped to look at a piece of furniture in a store. I can't easily explain the set-up of this store, but I walked full bore into the glass window. The couple opening up their restaurant two doors down heard the crash.

We then continued on our way. I looked horrid. I was also a bit light-headed. But I was determined. I highly recommend the Musee d'Orsay. :-)

Ohhh, @suzyQ3!   Not a good experience with that glass window.   Yikes.   Of course the Louvre was (is!) wondrous, splendid.   However, the Musee d'Orsay and Sainte-Chapelle were my 2 favorites.   We were lucky to be there at Christmas and the city was enchanted, sparkling like a jewel.

Thanks for this thread, @Oznell!   I'm a reluctant thread-starter, but an enthusiastic appreciator of those who do find interesting topics such as this one.

The last time I was there they museum was evacuated and closed, at NOON, not because of illness, but because a large group of pick-pockets were working the whole museum.

They overran the 'Flicks' ability to control, so they made everyone leave and closed for the rest of the day. Yikes!

Glad these people who wanted to were able to.

My BIL travels to Europe often for business, mostly Italy..  So much so he is being required about getting a license or something like that in order to drive.  Anyway, he said the pick-pocketers are so bad.  They're constantly being warned about them.  But despite all the warning, one woman he was traveling with did up gettting her wallet lifted.

@ScrapHappy

I live in a small town, so I have no idea about pickpockets in big US cities.  I imagine they are bad there too.  But I do know they can be bad in large Cities in other countries.  I have been very fortunate, except for medication, and ID I carry nothing that would crush me to lose.  I may wear a gold chain, but never a valuable watch, or wedding band, or valuable jewels - not worth the risk to me.

Still, as soon as I feel safe flying again, I’m off!
