Re: LOL..Well I never thought I'd......

My daughter was out shopping, laid her cell phone on a counter in a store and while she was busy doing something the phone disappeared.  Long story short she called the sheriff's department about a stolen phone, the sheriff met her at the store and was able to trace where the phone was.  It led to a house address, they went there but no one answered the door.  I didn't know it was possible to do that.

I will never forget one day while still living in L.A. we were driving on a particular street when I spotted a cell phone on the street so we stopped and picked it up.  Not too long after that after it rang several times I finally answered it and it was the owner of the cell who was so relieved so we made arrangements to meet him at a particular restaurant close by.  Our table was close to the entrance and so when he walked in he spotted two women at a table and when he approached I said, "Are you looking for a cell phone?"  We all laughed, he sat down ordered coffee and pie all around and explained how his phone ended up on the street.  He was driving and having an argument on the cell phone, got so mad he threw it out the window.  Of course he realized what a stupid thing he did and was extremely grateful to us for having picked it up before it was demolished.

Granted, I don't much about this stuff.  But how the heck could a sheriff trace the cell phone right to it's location...????
