in 1997 a ship carrying huge crates of Leggos from Maine was damaged in a storm and much of the contents - the crates of leggos - were lost in the ocean where they sank. Now, 14 years later they are washing up onto beaches in England. This is giving scientists information about tides etc that was never available before. And , i guess some little English kids some free leggos. Interesting that they lasted 14 years and the designs painted on them are still intact. They look brand new.

The ship was leaving England for New York and the spill happened just 20 mi. off the English coast.
While it's a good study about ocean currents, it also highlights how debris can remain in our oceans for years - there are ecological considerations here.
