"drank the Koolaid"
It is used to express the idea that someone believed the story being told. But in actuality, the phrase comes from the hundreds of people who died in Jonestown in the 70's after they drank poisoned Koolaid. It's such a chilling, horrific event, that I don't believe the phrase should be used so lightly, or used at all. I saw it used by a poster here today in connection with taking in a sales spiel and making a purchase. I didn't want to call her out but it stuck in my mind. She probably does not know where the phrase came from.
Yes I think of that sad incident too. I also think of Woodstock because of the "brown acid"
I would never use the phrase since it's not to be taken lightly but for those who don't know the history it sounds like a fun phrase.

Maybe a little off topic but I cringe when I see people write "This" after someone elses response.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, I agree with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone over uses it and most of the time incorrectly. I noticed it more and more with news anchors and even the people they interview - from all walks of life!

Anyone over the age of 25 who uses shortened words when speaking. I understand that it saves time when texting, etc. (Ex: totes for totally) There is a host that does this often and it just looks desparate in my opinion.

Another vote for "amazing" and "awesome"
and I'll add "Wow, just Wow!" and "Cray-cray"
to the list!
