Such a moving performance, especially with all the survivors on stage with her. I had tears in my eyes, and saw that many in the audience did, as well.

i was very moved by her performance.  she did a great job, but it was something that was so emotional and sad for better words.  no one could have sung it better.

SPOTLIGHT WON ABOUT SA IN THE CHURCH, BUT A SONG LIKE HER,S DIDN,T?  A Bond song won?  Seems like it,s fixed.  She got a standing O, he was week.

Lady GaGa's performance was outstanding and (IMO) by far the best performance of the night.

She seemed genuinely happy for the winners of her category.

I do not understand Sam Smith winning over her.  She was by far the best.  I like her when she was kooky also, because she has talent and can sing.  She was robbed tonight.  Not to mention her outfit was beautiful.

I don't think she was "robbed" because it wasn't hers to take.   Did you see that movie  ... or was your opinion based on her stage performance?

People who vote on these awards are in the entertainment business, and their criteria can be much  different  than  that of a "fan".   Anyone who's even nominated receives serious recognition ... it's a huge honor.

It's not the Oscars if a Bond song doesn't win. Those movies are mostly the same (bad guys get killed in their exotic lair, good guy saves the world and the girl, again).

I'm glad the song got a nomination as its topic needs to be brought out into the open. Too many colleges and universities try to sweep this under the rug (this doesn't happen at OUR school!) when it does all the time.

The song has people talking and maybe that was the intent (having a dialogue for reform).

I was really rooting for Lady Gaga to win the Oscar for her song as well.

By allowing her name and her own r*pe to be part of this conversation, she really allowed a spotlight to be focused on this ongoing and shameful issue. -- And, hopefully, more justice for the victims as well as a better understanding of what "saying no" really means will come out of this.

Although I haven't seen the documentary, it seems clear to me that her song was an integral part of the documentary and helped move the story line forward (which is the criteria that "Best Song" is judged on).

Below is a really interesting interview she took part in which is part of The New York Times lecture series.

I just heard a very sad statistic this morning .....  that only about 13% of college rapes are ever reported.

On the other hand, a rape occurring anywhere most likely will never be reported.   This has to change.

I was torn between Sam Smith's song and Lady Gaga's. Granted, they were entirely different themes, but musically, they were both wonderful. I'm happy for Sam and his song writing partner. Gaga will perform that song much more in the coming year. She's got a lot going for her besides her music career and that includes activism.
