Will be interesting to see who gets the contracts to "clean up the toxic waste."  Follow the money.  Who says "saving the environment" can't be profitable?

@Isobel Archer- the EPA is responsible for the clean-up.

Waste is going to sites in Malibu and Duarte/Azusa. @Tinkrbl44

@qbetzforreal @Tinkrbl44 Lario Park in Irwindale is being used as atemporary site for sorting and preparing the waste for transportation.

Where is the final destination???

I have not seen anything about Malibu but I believe the Duarte/Azusa areas are about the residents concerned about Lario Park nearby, not that the waste is being transported to Duarte/Azusa areas.

The residents were never told Lario Park would be used as a temporary site.

Even as a temporary site air quality and seepage into ground water is very concerning.

@Cakers3- Per the EPA, it is an undisclosed area in Malibu.

An Executive Order was made that the EPA clean everything up lickety-split.

On top of that CA has been having a drought, which was only slightly relieved last year.

Now, farms still aren't getting enough water for crops.

Well, if there are suddenly no workers to pick any crops, food may rot on the vine.

Good grief.

@@Shoekitty.  And it will get worse for Central Valley this summer, as a big executive order came in to divert their water reserves to Los Angeles, asap. Not realizing that water doesn't go to Los Angeles, but out of state,.. go figure. No workers anywhere. And there isn't a kid or college student in This country that will do the work, when they can get 2 $ more per hour at   Inn Out Burgers

Does California have residential fires of this magnitude every year?

Shoekitty said. @monicakm   No, not ever, like this anyway. This is the worst in history. We did have the fires in Paradise a few years back. Ususally the fires burn land, so,etimes threaten homes, but never demolish whole neighborhoods like this. Whole areas are gone.

I don't watch TV but it didn't take long for YouTube to play news reports and other videos from individuals.  Disasters/ tragedies that will last for years 😢

I have a feeling that this is going to be a massive "about-face" for insurance companies that don't want to cover everything but still want to sell you their homeowners insurance.

Some of the questions that victims come up with have never been addressed before ...  such as "How do I get my security deposit back on the rental house that just burned to the ground"?

The security deposit was $20,000.

Re: LA FIRES - HAZARDOUS WASTE REMOVAL

@Tinkrbl44   Shoekitty said, I know 20,000 isn't chump change.  Some of those rented for 25,000 and one I know of 32,000@ month. Can you imagine?   Of course the majority of the folks were ordinary joes, working paycheck to check, or just comfortable.  Many renters don't get any reembursement ,  because in some areas renters insurance is hard to get or way too expensive.  Seems to me, at the rate of national disasters, not just California but back east.  Some homes flood multiple times in their lifetime, and there is always, hurricanes, floods tornados.  So nationwide the cost is steep in damage. Seems to me the insurance companies need the payments.  I am not in a flood, fire zone. I mean we are in earthquake area for sure.  but I get notices from the state of California you can purchase insurance from them now if refused by company. Do uyou know anything about this.  I need to update my policy. We own our home, never had a claim but to replace this home is probably more than we woukd get
