I know quite a few people who didn't do it and donated instead. Some made that decision because of the severe drought here and felt it would be wasting water. To each his/her own.

Personally, I think pouring ice water over one's head is ridiculous. What does it prove? How does it benefit anything? Make a substantial donation towards finding a cure and call it a day.

Money will make a difference. Ice water won't.

They could do a make up challenge show yourself without benefit of cosmetic tech's. Men and women both. Silly nonsense, this would be more gentle to a person especially the elderly.

Obviously it has raised so much more money than previous years but to start a post like this (and maybe that was or wasn't your objective in this post) when you should know the bashing will start.
