Kudos to QVC for doing this every year!

The vendors donate the items, then the QVC price is 50% off, and 80% of that goes to ovarian cancer research.

I don't think we could ask for more. I'm proud of them.

I agree.

They really help advertise and promote the event.

And kudos to QVC's audience who sell out in seconds!

It's nice of them to give back. I think all of the major shopping channels have their own give back programs.

I think it's a wonderful event and it brings much-needed publicity to ovarian cancer. My only complaint is that items sold out so quickly, that it was a bit frustrating. I did manage to pick up a couple of items that I already use for a good price, so I was happy.

I agree with all of you. It's certainly a worthy cause and there are plenty of eyes on QVC. As I said on another thread, it would be great if they could extend it to a longer show and offer more products (and, as Topaz Gem said, come with a deeper inventory so more of their customers could participate).

Last year some sold-out items did pop up again later in the evening, probably due to shoppers who changed their minds, so be sure to check and see if something you wanted is back and available for purchase.

Re: Kudos to QVC for doing this every year!

So let me follow this. The vendor donates the items so QVC pays nothing to the vendor. QVC then sells the item at 50% off suggested retail so a $100.00 item sells for $50.00. QVC then donates 80% of the $50.00 or $40.00 to the charity keeping $10.00 as profit since they paid nothing for it. Not sure why this is so wonderful! Wonderful would be if they donated the entire $50.00 to charity. There are many fund raising efforts for various charities where the entire proceeds are turned over to,the charity.

I don't know if they ever clarified who gets the 20% - whether it is QVC or the vendor or a combination of both.

Something is something. If it were for all the ladies and their ovaries, the Q wouldn't have the sales it has or even exist at all.

The OP,indicated that the vendors donate the items. To me that means They are turned over for free and QVC is not paying for them. Thus QVC is making 20% profit (before their expenses) on each item. If that is incorrect please let me know.

Well, you missed a step. First the Q reduces the price by 50%, then they may get 20% of that. That is unless they are lying.
