Knock knock knock

[ Edited ]

I was sitting on the couch watching t.v. My husband was on a motorcycle trip. Our dog Sadie was laying on the floor sleeping.

I heard a knock knock knock by the dining room window. It is midnight. The blinds are closed in the dining room windows but open in the living room. Our house is small,it used to be a caretakers cottage. The living room and dining room are one. The knocking occurred again. Who would be out there? It feels creepy. The hair is standing up on my arms. When it happened again I went into the hall so no one could see me. Great! my phone is in the living room. Now what?

The knocking happens again. I can see Sadie still sleeping. Why doesn't she growl or bark?

As the knocking happens again I see Sadie, her tail is thumping on the floor 3 times! I can understand it now. What a great big relief!! Thank heavens all is well!

Anyone else have a weird story?

I have experienced numerous phenomena in this house.    I have reason to believe that I am living over ancient burial grounds.

@hellie jo,  Sadie must have been enjoying her dream.

I've had similar experiences with my animals causing unexplained sounds until I finally focus on them and realize they are the explanation.

Glad it wasn't anything serious.

But I keep all of my blinds closed after dusk, especially if I'm home alone.  Guess I watch too many true-crime shows.....

Years ago I had a woman pounding on my apartment door near 2 am.  I know he's in there!  I called 911.  Granted, she was drunk, but I lived in a complex with probably 20 buildings that were exactly the same.  Her man or friend was not in my apartment!  It was very scary.  The dispatcher stayed on the phone until the police got there.  About 10 minutes.  She was arrested.  First and only incident.

I once woke up to noises coming from the basement.  My husband was working nights and I was scared.  Ready to call 911 when I bump into the laundry shoot door being open.   Darn cat was having a heyday in the basement.

Another time when hubs was working I heard knocking in the back of the house.   I eventually got the nerve to check it out.  Another cat had opened the cupboard and was licking a soy sauce bottle.  He'd lick it and lift it then the bottle would make the knocking sound when it dropped down.

Darn cats. Cat Wink

We had an incident that we still talk about today. My sister & her two kids moved in with my father after her divorce. I was out on my own & living in NYC. I came home for the weekend & slept in my nieces room with her for the night. She had bunk beds for sleepovers & I took the lower berth.

During the night, we heard the front door open, footsteps across the living room ( bedrooms were upstairs & my father’s bedroom was downstairs), footsteps going up the stairs to the bedroom door of my nieces room. There was a hesitation & the door opened slowly & we saw a person standing there. The light was behind the person so we couldn’t see the face, only the silhouette but it was a man. We assumed it was my father who was checking to see if everyone was home even though it wasn’t his usual practice & he’d always knock before entry. The person then closed the door, hesitated, I guess outside of my sister’s room & my nephew’s room. We heard the steps in reverse, down the steps, across the living room & out the door.

The next morning we were talking at breakfast & in the course of conversation we mentioned my father doing room check which was odd for him & he went out so late. My father walked in during the conversation & asked what we were talking about. He wasn’t upstairs & was sleeping soundly; it wasn’t him & he didn’t go out. So now we were really creeped out. My nephew & sister heard the footsteps but the person did not open their door. My father didn’t hear any footsteps & was sleeping. Funny thing, we didn’t feel fear & our dog didn’t bark ( who slept in my sister’s room). At that time, we never locked doors but we did after that. We have no idea who it was to this day but my niece & I always talk about that night & that we didn’t feel fear; I guess because we thought it was my father.

Years ago we had a husky tabby cat named Tyson, one night while reading in bed, our sliding glass closet door started opening and scared the la-la's out of me, it was Tyson, I was hanging up clothes and didn't realized he went into the closet and inadvertently closed the door he'd been in there for quite a while too, guess he realized it wasn't too much fun in there, LOL
