Kitty drinking fountain

Yesterday, I purchased a Drinkwell Lotus pet fountain. It's white ceramic with 3 different pours that run into a ceramic bowl and recycle. It's nice, but my cats are afraid of it! They like to drink out of the faucet, but I really would rather them have access to pouring water 24/7. Has anyone experienced this and do you think they will eventually get used to it?
