Kitschy, but Appropriate Today:'My Mother's Eyes' (the Song)

[ Edited ]

Modern audiences became familiar with the song "My Mother's Eyes" from "Jersey Boys."  At one time, Frankie Valli was financially helped out by Angelo "Gyp" DeCarlo, and Frank received the help after singing Gyp's requested favorite song, "My Mother's Eyes."  This rendition by George Jessel would be the one Gyp was familiar with.

Re: Kitschy, but Appropriate Today - 'My Mother's Eyes' (the Song)

To know how affecting this song was to many, I copied the following verbatim from a touching post on the George Jessel rendition site:

"Hope many mother's hear this song today. I remember Georgie singing this on the Jackie Gleason show. Jackie would invite him on every mother's day and boy how Gleason would beam with joy and evidence a real emotional reaction as George would really belt it out. Jessel was Gleason's favorite performer."

I can just see Jackie Gleason responding to the sentiment in this song.
