We have black stainless steel.  I like how it looks.

@CoffeeNut Oh gosh, I did not know there was such a thing.  I just looked at some photos online.  It looks nice - not a solid black, more like a dark grey.

It really is attractive.  I'm an old-timer and still love the 'freezer on top' model.  This is my new-ish refrigerator in the black stainless.   I love numerous things about this one.

One thing I love is that there are no door handles sticking out.  There is a recessed area on the top of the refrigerator door and the bottom of the freezer door to open them.  That way I got more actual storage depth than I had in my former one that had the same measurements.

The only oddness for me is that the doors are not magnetic, in that you cannot put magnets, etc, on them.  The sides are, though, so I have a few things on that one side.

I think I posted here recently about the funny manual boo boo that called one of the drawers a 'panty drawer'.  Smiley Very Happy  That still cracks me up.

I had mis matched color appliances for a couple of years....they are now all stainless.  There is no way I would replace all appliances because one went bad and I wanted all to match, but that's me.

Re: Kitchen Applicance Colors

I have all stainless and I really like it.  I have an older GE range (which has held up very well) and LG French door refrigerator and a Miele dishwasher which we just got to replace the piece of junk that never washed our dishes (a Kitchenaid).  All different brands yet the stainless works with all.

Yes you can get different brands that have a different stainless finish but it doesn't mean you can't get a perfect match!

we have all stainless steel and it would definitely bother me if the appliance colors did not match.

Re: Kitchen Applicance Colors

My house is an open floorplan & the kitchen is smack dab in the middle of the house & it would drive me nuts if the appliances didn't match.

When I bought the house 16 years ago, it had GE bisque colored appliances in the kitchen, but the stove was a smooth glass top electric & I wanted a gas range, so after 1 year  I got a GE Profile gas range in bisque.

A few years later, the original dishwasher died (it was so noisy, it was awful, so it was a blessing)  At that time I wanted a French door fridge rather than the side by side that was here, so I got a GE Profile French door fridge & a new over the range microwave still in bisque, but GE no longer made dishwashers in bisque, so the only brand I could find in bisque was a KitchenAid, which was so quiet I could hardly hear it running.

Then in 2020, the microwave died an ugly death & the dishwasher was starting to do odd things, so decided to bite the bullet & just go with all new stainless appliances, since no one made bisque appliances anymore.  I went with all KitchenAid in smudgepoof SS this time & by then the pandemic was wreaking havoc with the supply chain. It took 8 months for all of the appliances to be delivered, with the new French door fridge being the last to arrive.

In Sept 2021, I decided to get a new washer & dryer since my dryer was over 20 years old & I'd brought it with me from WA, but since my laundry room has a door, I opted for dark grey color.  The W&D were delivered the very next week.  I opted for a gas dryer this time, which i love!

Re: Kitchen Applicance Colors

@Puppy Lips  We replaced our Kitchen Ais dishwasher that was about 25 years old with another Kitchen Aid last Spring. We also replaced our GE wall oven with a Kitchen Aid.
The new dishwasher was under $1,000 and it works very well. We ordered ours from Home Depot.
Good luck

OP, Nope you gotta have all stainless if your other appliances are stainless. But I'm with your son, every brand has their own "color" of stainless. And I find that the smudgeproof stainless of today doesn't match the older stainless. You will regret getting black, stick with the uniform look of all stainless.

@ID2  No, you don't "gotta" have all one color! Two reasons why:

1.  These days, not everything is immediately available when you need it, and you have to take what you can get. I "had" to buy a stainless stove, because the white one in the same model was more than I could afford, plus it would have taken weeks to months to arrive, while the stainless was available immediately.

2.  Not everyone can afford, especially these days, to replace every appliance at once, even IF their color of choice is available.

Vermont I bought a refrigerator that wasn't what I wanted but it was available for delivery in a few days. The refrigerator i did want wouldn't be available until two months later. My old refrigerator didn't work and it was beyond repair. I couldn't wait two months without a refrigerator so I settled for what was immediately available.

Re: Kitchen Applicance Colors

I still like white appliances and that's what I stay with.

I'd be one of those who would have to replace everything

if I switched colors on one appliance.

@yellowrose I think I "used to" be that way.  But the older I get, the more lax I am on things I guess.
