You do understand that expressing yourself here, though of course you have the ability to do so (within standards) does not mean she will stop doing "it" or that QVC will get rid of her because you don't like her presentations?

Just hope you're aware of that. If you thought QVC corporate would take notice and hop right to firing her or reprimanding her or saying anything to her at all about it - what a disappointment for you.

I agree that posting a QVC annoyance here will likely not change anything, @Moonchilde. But one of the great things about message boards is that you can vent and discuss. I don't think anyone who does either is expecting anything to come from it.

Plus, I think that in this case, it made for a decent and interesting discussion, as opposed to rants about why a vendor never shuts up or other such perennial topics. :-)

I am guessing that what she/they do and say all management approve.

Re: Kirsten is doing it again!

I've never found myself offended by how someone addresses my perceived status as long as it isn't a cuss word.  Some days i'm a woman, some days I'm a girl, some days I feel like a broad.  I am all those things depending on MY state of mind on any given day.

As far as the tool in question, I didn't see it as I don't watch the Q and dont' care enough to research it.  I do think we "girls" are very resilient when need be - I was operating a horse farm by myself when I met my husband, taking care of the house, barn, fences, lawn and garden care, horses and other assorted animals.  What I couldn't do physically, I paid someone else to do - like farrier work or well drilling. Woman LOL

Luckily, I married a cowboy so I am no longer solely handling the chores.

Could I do it again, sure.   Most people rise to the occasion, as they say.

But am I offended by what the show host said?  Uh, no. She is paid to speak that way.

She's sweet and I'm sure she doesn't mean anything by it.  I know sometimes a person will say something and then (for some reason) it becomes a go to phrase and usually people don't even realize it.

I do agree with you though (about the strength of women).  Lately there have been several young women (Amy among them) who are very pregnant and working.

I've been pregnant at least 6 times and have 3 adult children.  I worked with my first daughter up until near the 9th month of pregnancy.  Some women work longer.  I was lucky I had an easy desk government job but I had to ride a hot bus every day for 1 hour to get to work (each way).  Not a lot considering what some women have to endure.

My point is I think women are much smarter than men.  I have something I post sometimes.  I will copy it here.  It's pretty wonderful about women.

You certainly have a right to think that way but saying it doesn't make it so. Women are certainly not smarter than men. Both men and women are smart, very smart, not so smart, a little bit smart, and not smart at all. There is no generalizations about gender. And saying women are smarter than men is no less offensive than saying men are smarter than women. It takes all kinds to make a world.

I am sure we all know both women and men in our everyday lives and at work that don't seem smart at all. There are many posts in this and other forums from women complaining about other women they work with that are freeloaders and make them do all the work. Let's not sugarcoat everything with some poetic rhetoric. Men have testosterone, it makes them stronger genetically. Not better, not smarter, just stronger in general. And when it is convenient I know many women who ask men to carry a box of copy paper for them because they "just can't lift it",

What she said was a service to women who are less than able to do heavy work and she was informing us/them that whatever she was selling was easy enough for some of us girls.

I think that to say the women are much smarter than men is no better than the converse. It's really very silly and sort of demeaning.

Re: Kirsten is doing it again!

No reason to be so defensive. Maybe Kirsten really did mean "girls"; as in a 12 or 13 year old girl. Either way, it doesn't bother me at all to be called a girl. I prefer it over being called a boy.

@Moonchilde

If someone thinks that posting a comment will get a host fired they are pretty naive.....However, every store I shop in being it online, or brick and mortar I recenty have visited has requested me to complete a survey--- be it from a fast food chain, the grocery store, or any retailer be it high end store or discount store---businesses want customer opinions and feedback!!!  Will QVC implement each and every suggestion---no!.....will they implement some....yes!

I've seen it myself and hosts/vendors will mention customer feedback is the reason something was changed.  I've even seen it with certain hos'ts presentation methods too---instead of one host constantly patting herself on the back for "creating" the items shown on her show, she has changed it to sharing ideas with a designing team that has come up with the product...

Someone else has posted a thread about one of the vendors presenting computers had inappropriate sites running on the desktop (I don't watch the computer presentations so didn't see it---but it became quite the topic).......some said that vendor hasn't been seen after that disclosure....

So some changes customers requested were implemented in order for a show to be more watchable (and result in more sales)---otherwise if something is annoying people actually DO change the channel (and we don't need a reminder)---what happens is QVC loses sales!!!  QVC is in business to make sales and if a sales gimmick isn't working people have the right to let QVC know without being scolded!!!

QVC's website is not a Host Award Show where everyone thinks only happy thoughts and nothing but all lovey good fuzzy comments and to express what a wonderful job all the hosts are doing....QVC is a retail business to sell products to make money---PERIOD!!!  Most savvy QVC shoppers recognize tired and outdated sales techniques or sales gimmicks, or annoying habits, so if one is not working--- QVC customers have the right to provide that feedback WITHOUT getting scolded, or getting snarked, or being reprimanded for "picking on the poor hosts".....If someone has a difference of opinion they also have that right to express it too, but please folks why all the snark and reprimanding ---

with a decline in sales looks like QVC needs some help to keep viewers engaged and buying!!!
