It used to be, way, way back, when NY-ers were rumored to be very fast, very aggressive, very ambitious, etc.. (Whether true or not, I didn't/don't know).  Now-a-days, it's a big trend to 'rush around', so to speak.  In everyday lives.  Driving, talking, texting, whatever-ing.  This seems to be the era of rushing around.  I see it everywhere.  'Rush-rush here, rush-rush there, rush-rush everywhere'..........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Courtney says "fur, fer" instead of "for" drives me nuts because it's something that can be easily fixed.  I've had a lot of speech classes in my life and lazy speech (even dialects) can be corrected and made much better.  Apparently no one does this anymore....  and they should because the audience gets annoyed and turns off and that's the last thing a shopping channel should want......

I agree with you,  So many of the QVC hosts have annoying speaking habits.  The one that seems to annoy me the most is the constant "Ummmmmms".  Shawn is the worst, followed by Jill and Carolyn.  Kerstin talks fast and she's always looking off to her left side.  It makes her look nervous and as a salesperson, it seems like they should look into the camera at the viewer.  Lol, comes across as a bit shady to not look at someone.

Some hosts speak too fast, some too slow; some speak indistinctly, and others over-enunciate-- all annoying speech habits. Then, there are a few hosts who are the "Goldilocks" of talkers-- they speak "just right."

Its hard to believe so many of these people worked in broadcasting before launching their QVC careers.   I don't know how they made it.

I hear fast talking on many shows and in everyday life.  To me it is annoying and I move on.   It sounds like they talk fast to fit their words in a few minutes but if you are talking to me you have lost a sale.  I also find it ridiculous when the hosts and designers waste our time admiring themselves on the monitors and discussing what they own or which color they should buy.  The models are there to model.  Your job is to sell.  Please give me a complete description of the product, colors and sizing in language I can understand. Many have been on the air for several years before coming to QVC.  They went to college and I am sure they took learned how to talk on air properly.   Maybe I just need to get with the new behavior but I have control of the clicker.  I use it to change the channel or turn it off.  More money in my pocket.  I can not miss what I did not see.

I totally agree! Kirsten talks way too fast and constantly looks at herself on the TV monitors.

When I see that she's the host, I turn the channel immediately. And we'll probably see a lot of her this month, as she's been designated as the Q's fitness expert.

Yes...she is constantly looking at herself....and i turn right away also...................

Re: Kirsten, Slow Down

I gave up watching Kerstin (or whatever her first name is) soon after she first started after Lisa quit.  Yes, it's hard to believe their former "lives" were in tv broadcasting.  At least I now save $$, if I don't watch, I don't buy.  Plus I don't trust fast talkin' folk.  There's just something not right when they cannot  look straight into the camera and speak nice 'n easy about a product.  And another thing that turned me off completely was one of those hosts scratching that nose of hers alot while describing something.  What's up with THAT?  Doesn't that mean it's not true, whatever she is saying?

I can't relate to those in age ranges 20's - 40's anymore. So in that regard, it's my problem and I'm fine with that.

I don't care for giddy, smug, goofy, cutesy, silly or valley girlie or bragging....monetary...

If they'd have a good looking guy/hunk... now that would be fine with me.

---eta, then changed my mind which takes 20 minutes now. Bed time. Sorry.
