That's not a problem in our master bedroom. We have a huge king size bed with side rails, head & foot boards. We also have nightstands on each side plus a huge dresser with mirror & huge Armoire. We still have plenty of floor space to get around in our bedroom.
We can't sleep on a Queen size bed because there is no room to turn over without falling out of the bed.

I have a king size bed and wouldn't give it up. I have no issue with it at all. Depending on where you buy your sheets, they aren't always more expensive. I don't find it harder to put sheets, etc. on my bed. It's still the same shape mattress, just a bigger footprint.

we went a step further. just in time too. we each can move feet up or back up. Doc told me after fall i might want to sleep setting up. huh! got that bed just in time. so thankful. our sides work individually, so one doesn't disturb the other.
Did I mention we have a Yorkie? Need I say more? lol

@Nightowlz It's clearly a matter of individual preference...
For me, it's not just a matter of how much room a king takes up or whether or not the size of the room will support a king, but also the visual space they consume. When I walk into a bedroom with a king they just look so monolithic. My master bedroom would support a king, but along with the other issues some have expressed, I simply prefer a smaller bed. That said and not to put too fine a point on it, I don't have to share my bed with someone every night. ![]()

Too much work???? I don't think so. Unless it is a split mattress, it takes the same amount of energy and work to make a bed of any size.
Expensive, yes. And it is is difficult to find quilts and comforters that fit well. Sheets fit ok, but for some dumb reason, the comforters are always way too small.

I don't think it' more work.....I need a king bed for myself,my four cats and my grandchild...although they all pile up on me,with four feet of free space..

Granted I have issues with my shoulders but a king-sized bed is definitely harder to make as I have trouble getting the comforter and sheets pulled up properly in the middle of the bed.
The other plus to a queen-sized bed is that you can buy a king comforter and get a generous drape on the sides.
However, with two of us sharing the bed with a dog, I wouldn’t give up the king bed🙂

I remember my mom bought a king sized bed in the 1960's. I don't think they had been generally available much before that. We lived in a little post-WWII era house with small rooms. You could walk by the bed on the one side, and had to sort of sidle by on the other side between the bed and the wall, but boy did they love that bed! There was very little room on any side of it!
We had a nice sized room in our last house, with the big four poster bed it in and it looked fine to me! We have a really big bedroom in this house, and you don't even think about that bed being big.
But in any situation, I'd go for the King sized bed.

I don't think it's that much more work, but definitely worth having.

DH and I always had a queen size bed but decided to upgrade to a king a couple of years ago. Sure, the bedding is often more expensive and it's a little more work to change the sheets, but I couldn't see myself going back now. We both love our big bed and wish we would have done it sooner.
