Re: King size bed-sooo much work

I would love a king sized bed but we would have to jump from the doorway to the bed because there would be no floor space left for anything else!

@software  Well, hanging sheets out to dry hasn't occurred to me in 50 years, so that's not an issue with me.  Woman Wink

I can't see having anything but a king size bed. Having two German Shepherd dogs and us we still need more room. ha ha!

I purchase all of our bedding from QVC and find the prices to be better than what I have seen at the B&M stores for us.I like the deep pockets, the fact that the sheets come in sets and extra pillowcases are available most imes. The gurarantee brings me back every time.

Re: King size bed-sooo much work

That's why I have the king size now.

DH was a restless sleeper who also kept different hours than me.

Plus we had 2 labs.

Cost of sheets is never the problem, I usually buy a new set every year after the holidays at a deep discount.   After Christmas sale.

Now everything is a chore.

I find I'm simplifying my life, one step at a time.

Even though we have an oversized bedroom, if it was just me I'd have a full size mattress.  I like the coziness of a smaller mattress.  I fall asleep many nights on our living room couch and wake up there in the morning.

Re: King size bed-sooo much work

We got a king size mattress after this move and I can't believe the difference it makes.  After 28 years of a queen, I sleep better than ever.   DH gets up several times during the night, and I don't even know it.  It is fabulous.

We only have one set of sheets so far so we just wash/dry and put them back on.  We have a stackable W/D and no problems with them or the mattress pad/cover fitting.  We have a king quilt and I think it will fit fine too.

We change the sheets and make the bed with one of us on each side so that goes quickly.  So far, I love it.

Yes it is a lot of work. They get all tangled up in a ball when you try to dry them. I dry my pillow cases with pillow protectors next dry the fitted sheet & finally the flat sheet.

I use the same sheets in the summer & wash & put back on the bed. Too much of a hassle trying to fold them. Same with my flannel sheets in the winter.

The bedding is more expensive but worth it IMO to sleep on a king size bed.

When we visit my sister we sleep on a queen or that's what she says it is. We have to get in bed & stay in that position all night because there is no room to turn over without falling out of the bed. That's hard for me to do since I turn from one side to the other all night long.

I can see buying 2 twin beds when we get older since I don't know that I will be able to handle king size when I get old? If we do that I can tell DH he can make his own bed. LOL!!!

I always wondered why some couples had 2 beds in the bedroom when I was younger now I know. I think it also has to do with snoring husbands plus medical issues. LOL!!!

If you think a king bed is a lot of trouble you should try making up a Sleep Number split king bed! But, yes, it is worth it. I could never go back to a smaller bed.

@froggy

LOL!!! We have a sleep # but not the split. I could not imagine having to climb all over the bed to put the sheets on it.

Must be a real pain in the rear. I don't know how you would get the separate fitted sheets on there.

I make my bed every morning & pull the fitted sheet tight & tuck back in. I want my bed nice & neat like it is after I wash it when I get in it to sleep every night.

I had to sleep in a queen size bed for 5 days on my last trip because all the king rooms were booked.

I'm sticking with my king and if I ever need a new bed, I will pay extra for them to haul it up the stairs.

@VaBelle35

If they don't have a king when we stop we get 2 beds in the room so we can both have our own bed. LOL!!!

Not even to mention the amount of space and visual space they take up in a room... Not a fan... I prefer a queen size bed...
