I'll watch some of the Coronation but it can't compare to Queen Elizabeth's!

The era of Elizabeth is over. I doubt there's even the slightest chance that people will ever care for Charles as much as they did for his mum. Personally, I think he's in for a very bumpy ride, and H&M are the least of his issues.
I don't know how you can know who will and not like Charles' Reign. He may usher in a more palatable monarchy and do without a lot of stuff the Queen held onto because of tradition. Time will tell @Tinkrbl44

When I either read, or heard about something way outlandish that Charles does/did, my mind just signed off on him as the final straw. I'll pass on this royal group and wait for William and Kate. Think that group will be more interesting.

I have read that Charles is focused on keeping the festivities as tight and low key as possible in deference to the economic problems faced by Britain.
That said, I believe the country and the world are expecting some pomp and circumstance. This is an historic occasion after all.

I simply do not like him in any way.

@grandma r wrote:Since the Monarch is also considered the head of the Church of England, how can a divorced person (who also admitted to adultry) be crowned???? His Uncle David chose to abdicate in order to marry Wallis.
Should the Church decide that Charles can't be crowned, who would be next in line????? I would think Edward (as the only child of Her Majesty not divorced) may be next in line instead of William. That would surely send Camilla into a tailspin.
Why did Edward VIII have to give up the throne to marry a divorcee but King Charles III did not.
Royals who are divorced or marry divorcees do not lose their position in the line of succession. Edward VIII had a number of affairs with married women including Wallis Simpson who was already divorced and still married to her second husband. His parents King George V and Queen Mary did not approve and refused to meet her. When George V died Prime Minister Baldwin made it clear that the Government, popular opinion in the country and the overseas Dominions (now the Commonwealth nations) did not approve of his plans to marry Wallis. Social attitudes towards divorce and a women looking for a third marriage were considered scandalous at the time, and if Edward married against the advice of his Ministers it would have caused the Government to resign and a constitutional crisis. Edward chose to abdicate.
The 1772 Royal Marriages Act requires members of the Royal Family to obtain permission from the Sovereign to marry. Queen Elizabeth II gave her permission for Prince Charles to marry Camilla, and more recently for Prince William to marry Catherine Middleton and Prince Harry to marry Meghan Markle.

I will watch the coronation. It is a historical moment in my time. Don't care to watch anything else. Not a fan of Charles or his consort. Yes, tampon indeed.

I will watch and enjoy and Lord willing I will still be around to watch King William be crowned. When King George VII is crowned I will be wearing my own.

I have no interest in the coronation, but I'll probably hate watch it. I really despise them and everything they represent...especially Cowmilla.

I think the entire Royal situation is nice, as long as it's what the citizens and/or residents want and look forward to.
Also, let's remember that the Royals and their various events bring a lot of tourists into the UK.
Looking way, way back, we here in the US had sort of 'royalty' with JFK and Jaqueline K.
Women strived to 'copy' Jackie's fashions, hats, etc.
That particular couple was, more or less, very well received on both/all politi*al sides, if I correctly remember.
Well, I'm wishing all concerned well and
safe.
