Hello, DeLaney! Will be counting on you dropping by, sweet friend. Keep warm up there!
Welcome, Love Roses! Enjoy your beautiful CA Fall -- it's a great time to get organized! Talk as little or as much as you want here, about anything at all.
Howdy, AnĂĽ!! Always a pleasure seeing you -- a pleasure it was to kick start this, too.
Doobs!! You are always a welcomed blessing, where ever you turn up. Always so thoughtful, compassionate and a wealth of wisdom, too! I have always found you to be very articulate, but just chime in whenever you feel like it. Even if just posting one of your lovely poems or meaningful quotes. They'll be much appreciated here. You are always a source of valuable insights and inspiration, despite this painful journey you find yourself now on... Always thinking of, and reaching out to others. But should you need a shoulder, or just an ear... I'm sure you'll find at least one here. No pressure to stay caught up. Take good and gentle care, (((my friend))). My thoughts and prayers go with you. Always.
Snappy love, think nothing of it! Whatever it takes to keep good and loving friends in touch. Making new friends is an added blessing! As you expressed so well, we all have burdens to bear in this life, as well as joys. Both are made better by sharing with those who relate and care. You, my friend seem to have an unlimited capacity of BOTH! Love you like kin -- hope you know!!
So glad you found us, HiLo and can now reconnect with your beloved sister, Snappy! I know what a long history you two share with so much in common. It'll be a great comfort to you both as you continue to recover, as you have been there with her -- and so many others -- through some very hard times. You are too kind in your assessment of me, but I know it comes from your tender heart and I hope you know what you mean to me, and what an honor it is to call you my dear friend. Keep relaxing and healing... I'll keep praying!

What a nice name for a thread, Joy! Hello everyone here! This looks like a nice thread for chatting about anything, am I right? And a long standing one, too. May you all be blessed and enjoy your Sunday.
‎11-23-2014 01:55 PM
Thank you, Gloria! Yes, you have that right... another friendly place to chat about anything at all, or just stay in touch with known friends and meet new friends, too, of all ages.
May your Sunday be blessed, too -- and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
‎11-23-2014 05:25 PM
How nice, and thank you, Joy. We are nomads no more!
I was rather confused with the old threads falling away, on where to go to reconnect.
Feels good to see the familiar names here and some new ones, too! Though some of you, I have enjoyed reading your posts around the forums for a long time. It'll be fun becoming better acquainted. Or just shooting the breeze, from time to time.
dooBdoo, whatever life changes you are facing, I wish you peace in your heart and strength in your soul to help you through. Like you I don't post here often, but don't worry if you misspeak here, or need to grumble or vent at times. There are no Perfect People that I know of, myself least of all. I pray you will be feeling much better very soon and can enjoy Thanksgiving Day.
Nice to see LoveRoses post. I envy you your nice Autumn weather. Seems we on the East Coast have morphed straight into Winter, but what can we do, but endure and give thanks that we are safe for now. Seems I'm always organizing... So I must not be very good at it! Best wishes with yours, friend.
Hello, gloriajean of the daily Positive threads! Blessings to you for a wonderful Thanksgiving season. I see you are in MN - up in the cold climes, too. Not too far from my sister Selah, who is hibernating in N.D. after her first round of back surgery. I thank you for your prayers on her behalf. So nice to have your prayer thread here, too.
BlueGrassBaby - what a beautiful name. Brings to mind immediately, those most noble of all creatures - horses! Please join right in, if you like. You're most welcome here - "among friends".
Snappy, what a treat to find you here and to see you're doing so well! Yes, we who met on the "Light Hearts and Deep Thoughts" thread have been keeping in touch for a long time with brief txts, some emailing and the occasional call or FT. Such fun! Much less time-consuming than this posting business, too - half of mine seem to be lost to cyber dust here. We discovered forums galore within the Delphi Community, where believe it or not, mobile devices actually work well - including copy and pasting graphics in a snap! Lots of info freely shared there, and discussions on any subject are allowed with no sudden thread poofing.
I love HGTV and the DIY programs, too. I seem to start too many projects and complete too few, though! What a cute idea, to tuck the gift cards in the unique socks! I just might steal that from you. Stockings started out just that way, I understand... Hanging the freshly washed socks by the fire to dry - sneaking treats inside. Hope you love your new hair color. That is something I have yet to try. Had a "body wave" once in my twenties - what a frizzy nightmare! Selah just loves to pull out those pictures - the she-devil! So it is the same old, same old for me ever since. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving plans, at your daughter's, if I recall correctly. We're just staying home, with me cooking. Looking forward to it - and the vacation, too! Arranging for my classes' "big" (to us) Winter display at the art museum has been consuming so much of my time. Then our two teenaged sons and their activities. I feel spread as thinly as Saran Wrap lately. Take good care, my friend!
Wow, HiLo what a scare you gave us all - getting sick, then losing your email, when we couldn't know what was happening! So relieved to see you back and feeling somewhat better. I do believe we are soul-sisters of sorts - fellow empaths. The suffering of others impacts us deeply. Our hearts just free-bleed. Would not wish it on another, and I thought volunteering through my church's crisis center might help alleviate this in me somewhat. As with doctors and nurses who build up that professional tolerance, and at least I would an instrument for Christ in DOING something for the very few. There is that part, blessedly, but I cannot see where I am in any way stronger for it. A kind of cross to bear? I can't know, but you do wisely to limit exposure when such news is going against your actual health. We can help no one at all unless we stay well enough to pray or otherwise contribute. Bless you, and know my prayers are with you.
Hardly a princess here! I am as plain as an old shoe, HiLo. Some of my female students try to give me beauty and fashion tips. I try sometimes, but end up feeling so foolish - garish. When I go silver, I'm sure I'll just go... As my mother is turning quite "sparkly". All I use is Nick Chavez shampoo and conditioner. No gels or sprays, unless attempting an uptwist. Then I need a bit of spray so it will stay put. I'm sure you don't need a wig cosmetically-speaking, but if it makes your life easier, I say go for it! I hope you will love it until your beautiful silver shines through. Already your golden heart does! Good healing and peaceful rest to you, my sister.
‎11-23-2014 06:42 PM
Yay, Rowan you found us!! That's right nomads no more. I forgot to mention before that it was YOU who thought up the thread title, too. Thanks again, princess! I know HiLo doesn't mean the high maintenance variety, but a natural beauty and there is no denying that. Sorry! You'll have to live with it somehow.
Yes, welcome over here, too, Bluegrassbaby! Thank you for the sweet message on Positive. Holding you close in my prayers.

Hello there friends. It got up to about 80 today. DD is hoping to bring in our tree this afternoon. Tomorrow I have my yearly physical, and then we are going to the big warehouse store for supplies. Always need batteries. I could open a flameless candle store here. LOVE them, and they are so helpful if the power either fails or is turned off for maintenance.
WaJa, you are always so kind to me. Thank you. You don't mention your job at the marina anymore, but I'm sure you have it and other jobs, and yet you find time to do so much volunteer work, plus all the hard work at the farm and still keep up here and other places. My head is spinning. I think of you having all those plates spinning without dropping any of them. Martha, Martha....
. So good to see you, dear heart.
gloriajean, so glad you found this new thread and stopped by to say hello. Come back anytime. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving.
Bluegrassbaby, I don't think I've seen you elsewhere, so hello to you. Please come back anytime and share anything you'd like.
Rowan, I know you and the other ladies here keep in touch by other means, but that sounds so much more time consuming to me than what I do here. Of course I can't really compare. DD warns me all the time about giving out TMI and tells me to NOT get involved with emailing people I don't really know. She is very wise and knowledgeable and I listen to her. But I do appreciate all of you making the time to say hello here. You are a special group of people, and according to both HiLo and WaJa...you are a princess, so you may as well just accept it.
Loved your insight into how hanging stockings as a Christmas tradition started. Makes sense. We drew names this year, and I got my DDILs. She wants a gift card for a specific store, so I'll put it in one of the socks and an ornament in the other and then figure out a way to wrap them, probably in one of the draw string bags from the Q.
I've been coloring my own hair or decades. It was naturally a medium brown, but I use dark blond as it softens the way I look. IMO. We did the Thanksgiving cooking for our family for many years. Hubby was the one to do the turkey, and I did everything else. DD and her hubby are just going to cook white meat and also have a ham. Everyone is bringing something. Pies and gingerbread from DD and me and also Snapple and Te Java.
Two teenaged sons sounds wonderful, but challenging. Hope you have a lovely time together. I imagine they are off school next week, at least part of it.
Happy Sunday to each of you.
snappy

Thank you Joy, Rowan, and Snappy for welcoming me to your sweet thread. Are you all busy having company for Thanksgiving?
‎11-24-2014 02:37 AM
Howdy, neighbor---gloriajean, and all friends! Hope your weekend has been a nice one, and since Snappy is bragging about her weather---it's only fair that I do, too! It's currently 9°, feels like -11° with the chill factor. Snowing and will continue through Thanksgiving Day. I want to personally thank DeLaney for wishing it over here, too.
Just because YOU might have to have frozen turkey TV dinners as the main event, is no reason to brew up a blizzard for me!
I'm kidding---it's what we do, for those here who are not accustomed to our nonsense.
Thanks for, yeah---kick starting us here, Joy! Much appreciated. Was glad to read elsewhere that Gracie is up and at 'em again. Trying to pawn the gross medicine off on the cat---MEOW! I take it she will be fit to travel with your family as you gather at your daughter's for your seafood Turkey Day. Also saw where you snuck the turkey in today. Very smooth! Vey Martha-ish to have your cake and eat it, too!
My daughter will be doing most of the cooking here, while I'm still recouping from back surgery #1 (thank you all endlessly for your prayers!). We have the larger table, as well as double ovens. Hubby will help. I'm sure I'll HAVE TO get my hands in there, too. So because of the weather, only 7 of us, counting the grandkids---all local. Truthfully, I am not up to much more yet anyway. Hope I can make it in to my appt tomorrow, as we have to cross the Canadian border where the snow began sooner. A couple of blood tests to check for signs of infection, etc and a scan. Main reason they are waiting before proceeding further, is to see if my body may reject the disk implant. I would MUCH rather wait until after Christmas before getting the second one, but they don't think it wise. So if things look good, they will likely schedule the next. I'm no longer on the pain pills, other than one at bedtime. Just too harsh to my entire digestive system. I take Advil instead. Managing okay, with that and very thankful.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving, gloriajean? Do you have a large family? Blessings to you and yours.
Hello to you, dooBdoo. Good to see you posting and thank you for your kind wishes. Back at you! I recall your loss, and again offer my heartfelt condolences. Just so you know, as with HiLo, Snappy and quite possibly others here I am not aware of yet, I can relate somewhat to the life changes you speak of. Lost my first husband and our 5-y/o son in a fatal crash ... Dark, dark days. So, in case you ever want or need to talk a bit---or a lot, you know. We are here for you. Some prefer to cope privately. I did, for a very long time. Prayers offered for you. I know this is a very difficult time of year for all who are grieving.
HiLo, my friend and sister! I can't tell you how good it is to hear from you. Joy told us your sister and granddaughter were there helping you out, and we never ceased from praying, but it is so good to see the answers come!
I hope the insomnia has passed now, too---20 hrs of sleep a week ... Dangerously little! Our only peace is in knowing that those martyred for their faith---no matter how young---instantly opened their eyes in the presence of our loving Lord. There IS no better place to be. Likewise, He knows your deep sorrow and so He is there, very close to you, just as He promised. Wish I could send you some praise music. MP3 downloads. Do you listen through that format? Let me know when your email is working again. Rest well in His peace. We will talk again soon.
Hope your physical goes well tomorrow, Snappy! I love the flameless candles, too---especially the newer ones. Flameless flames look so real from a distance! The timers are nice, too. We should buy stock in Duracell!
I think you're reading Sis as though we are all in constant contact DAILY thru txt, email, calls and FT. NOOOOO! Not possible. We 'stay in touch' as time permits that way as it's quicker than All This Typing. Then post to ongoing discussions of interest at the other forums where they are permitted to flourish. We know you are not comfortable with any of that. Rowan is just explaining what works best for us.
We are happy to keep up with you and others here, too. This forum is fine for that purpose. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family at your DD's! I'm still praying her hubby's unit will sell soon. Would be great if they could start out the new year in their new home!
Goodnight to all, and God bless!

A good Monday to one and all! Thank you, Joy for this nice chat thread. A pleasure to read, and to see a post from HiLo, following her long absence.
HiLo dear, I'm sure you must FEEL you have aged 10 years- going that long on that little sleep. Don't know if you were able to eat and digest much, but the fatigue alone would make one so weak. Scary what some meds can cause- scary too what the lack of the right ones can do. I'm so relieved and thankful you are on the road to recovery. You will remain in my prayers and I hope to hear from you again soon, here or by email. In the meantime, I'm wishing you and your wonderful family a nice Thanksgiving. May the Lord bless and keep you.
Selah, may your travels be safe and your tests go well! I'm so sorry about the terrible weather- especially inconvenient for you right now. Bless your daughter for coming and cooking on Thursday. I pray all arrive safely and you can each enjoy the day together. Prayers continue for you.
Hello to Rowan- have not talked to you recently, with your teaching and busy life I understand how it is. Nice to read your lovely post and sorry you were confused here. When you can't check in regularly, that is easy to happen. As I was just saying on the "hello" thread, I have so little news to share for even one thread per week or so. Exact opposite as you and others here. Your quiet Thanksgiving at home with immediate family sounds perfect. Enjoy your vacation!
Hello to gloriajean. I'm baking a couple of pies (deep dish apple and pumpkin) to take to my brother's for Thanksgiving day. We'll have about a dozen family members there to enjoy the day with. I enjoy cooking and baking- it's one of my passions in life, though I can't be on my feet as long as I used to. Do you enjoy cooking? If you're hosting or traveling, bless you and your family and I hope you enjoy the day.
Prayers for your health and wellness, DooBdoo. It is, as Selah says a hard time of year for so many. My only child- my beautiful daughter's absence becomes all the more painful for me as the rest of the family gathers for holidays. NOT that I don't cherish each and every one of them, too. Lost her to ovarian cancer, just about 2 years after she married and before she could be blessed with any children. I am no widow, but long divorced and live alone, but in a nice retirement community now. It's my pleasure to "meet" you here. I'm not very good with keeping up either. Have advanced RA, makes typing a challenge, but reading is still such a pleasure for me. Have enjoyed reading many of your helpful posts. Hope to hear more from you soon!
DeLaney, has the snow slacked off any yet? I pray so, and that you safely made it in to work. Today or tomorrow the young couple should hear if the mortgage is approved. The realtor expects no problems, then hopefully, they can be moved into my old house quickly, their first baby is due around Christmas. They need to settle in quickly, bless them. Did you finish your shopping? If you have a Kohl's there, they have some beautiful men's watches on sale. I bet Mike would love one of those!
Hello to Bluegrassbaby, Anu, LoveRoses and Snappy! Afraid I'll lose my post if I ramble on further. Wishing you all a most blessed day!
‎11-24-2014 03:44 PM
Dear friends:
I so enjoyed and much appreciated the kind words and prayers from all of you; I know your prayers plus those of my devout daughter got me through this horrible time. My daughter and her husband have such simple faith; just ask Father and it's done as long as they are sure the prayer is in His will.
This has always been easy for Donna but Mike has learned through all the trials of being a Pastor. By the way, God has surely blessed his Bible teaching since he got out of the pastorate; has a new Christian organization going and is next in line to be Chaplain at the Louisiana legislature. He has always turned the other cheek when people spoke ill of him and never tried to get back at anyone. They both love to be involved in a new church as members and there are plenty of Evangelical churches in Louisiana; even those who are not Evangelical are always open to hear the Word of God.
Rowan: Be sure, as soon as my son comes here, hopefully by Thanksgiving, I will be able to get my e-mail up again; I can't wait to share with you in an e-mail. Also, more personal conversations with Selah and dear Ruth. I miss you all so much and it will be good to actually get into the grove again with the great conversations. I suppose I will have to opt out of the general conversations as for me, as I said before, just can't take too much of the current news. (not surprised that Hagel "resigned" or was he "fired" is my question. General news like this doesn't bother me; it happens all the time.
Dear Snappy: Have you been able to get to church lately? Another question I have for you is: how are your sister and her son? They come to mind so much of the time especially when I think of your nephew. God surely does teach us lessons; I remember how it was when my Granddaughter who had the same problem, was born and later died. What I learned from that experience has been invaluable. You are right, we lived at the very best time in this country; paycheck to paycheck but with great examples of God fearing people all around.who were in the same financial situation. My Mom or Dad could never entertain the idea of credit cards.
Hi Gloria Jean. Hope your husband is gradually improving; I know what a concern this is for you; have been through it all but God is always faithful.
Must close for now; God bless you all.
HiLo
