Kindle Question

My husband, who is a smart guy, is about to pull out the last hairs on an already sparse head. He is unable to access the in house WiFi and has been told by our ISP that he needs to buy a new router (B or G). Our current router is a D link . It seems like there must be a LOT of people who have older routers and are geting Kindles this month...are we missing something?
