I love Pope Francis but he is an activist Pope and with activism comes criticism. He must preach love as he is the Pope....wasn't that what Easter was about? His Good Thursday rituals? Some forget that the Pope is also a politician, one of the best I've seen, and a Head of State. He has a tremendous Muslim population in Rome and John Paul, Benedict and now Francis have a good relationship with the community and they have had few incidents in Rome because there is tolerance, dialogue and understanding on both sides. The guards at the Vatican are for visitors not the Pope. When he travels other cities or places, it is at the insistence of the hosts that he accepts protection. Who would want the Pope murdered in their City. The police in Rome are often frustrated by this Pope. He spontaneously walks among the people, takes public transportation, loves driving his Fiat and doesn't live in the luxurious Vatican apartment.

Yes the Pope has guards. No need to be so disagreeable. High profile ministers here have guards as well so what's your opinion on that ? They preach the message of peace as well.
So then it's the just the rest of us who should fight with weapons of love - not those preaching it?

He isn't condoning murder....he is the Pope....he should preach hate? If so, that would make him a candidate for President here not a Pope. I am not a Catholic but he is a man of God....Easter, forgiveness?

16 nuns and nurses were killed when the Father was kidnapped. This is the same pope who felt the need to say those who are into building walls were not christians.

Nope, sorry, no hypocrisy.

The Pope is not a dictator, he is not a President or King. He does not rule, he serves.

The Vatican contains a lot of valuable items and art, the system was set up long before Francis.

What Francis does do, is go out at night in the garb of a simple monk to feed and wash the feet of the homeless living on the streets.

No guards, no one with him except a priest who also serves.

@Noel7- yep, the police often complain that they can not protect him...Francis is not afraid to die so he rejects protection in Italy.

One does not have to be a believer in order to understand different religions and what they are about.

There is no evidence this Pope is a hypocrite, and Stray makes a good point, no one knows what is in his heart, but his actions speak to kindness and forgiveness. Forgiveness does not mean live and let live or sin without consequences.

NO one is stating that he should preach "hate" but he should be very concerned and extremely vocal about the slaughtering of Christians by Isis. Love will not solve the problem. Anyone including him that believes this Pollyanna mantra is being very foolish.
