@JFD12 "@Solar Is My Name  My first and last name combined has a total of 7 letters ... lol! One syllable first name, one syllable last name (well, due to marriage!)... 😜"

I wish I had your name.  My first and last names combined have sixteen letters.  I get writer's cramp when I have to sign a lot of documents.

I think some parents come up with names they think are edgy. I know of one little boy named Clash. Lord help him.

Every now and then I hear a name and think, well, I'd use that name.

Use to think if I ever had a daughter, she'd have been Karen.  Now look what's been done to that name.

I like Sophie.  Brent for a guy's name.  There's others, but none come to mind right now.

I was talking about this thread with DD last night.

She told me that when a former co-worker was pregnant with her son she loved the name Holden.  I said I liked that name.  DD laughed and said it is nice but she wanted to use her DH's name as the middle name.

Because she was laughing I was almost afraid to ask.  Well, it was Peter.

Another nice name but in this case not together.  Going through life as Holden Peter, no.

Co-worker decided on another name. She used DH's middle name.

Holden Micheal.

I have noticed that a lot of traditional names are back in style.  People are now naming their children Josephine, Adeline, Walter, Arthur, John, Hazel, etc.  I think the pendelum swings from one extreme to the other when it comes to names.

I was out shopping and a woman in the same isle as myself was calling out loud,  Esther.   I was surprised when a little girl appeared.

I had a similar experience at the park near my house—a young mother was calling out to her toddler, Hazel. Just on my block we have a tween named Lucy and a first grader named Nora. Another neighbor's grandson is Oliver. I know of more than one Vivian/Vivienne as well.

I feel sorry for the kids.  I joke that I wonder what kind of sedation the mother was under when she name her child.  I think they do it for attention.

Within a day of finding out she was going to be a grandmother, for the 1st time no less, my Mother was nagging me to name a girl Julie.  Mom watched Days of Our Lives.

No, I'm not naming my kid after a soap opera actress. It isn't I dislike the name in general, but geez.

I had a girl, and her name is not Julie. I told my daughter that story when she was an adult.  She thanked me.

The same happened to me. I watched Days of our Lives and wanted the name Julie for our first daughter. My hubby said she didn't look like a Julie. So named her Danielle which was used by many others in the 60s.
