Keurig Green Mountain is recalling more than 6.6 million hot beverage-brewing machines in the United States that could overheat liquids and burn users.
Keurig says its Mini Plus Brewing Systems, with model number K10, can overheat and spray water during brewing. Keurig says it had received about 200 reports of hot liquid escaping from the brewer, including 90 reports of burn-related injuries.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission released details on the recall Tuesday. The recalled brewers have an identification number starting with "31" printed on the bottom. They were sold online and in stores in the U.S. and Canada between 2009 and 2014.
Consumers are being urged to call Keurig Green Mountain Inc. of Waterbury, Vermont, at 1-844-255-7886 to arrange for free repair.

Thanks.. For some reason Keurig has had terrible manufacturing issues. I went through four of them before I decided to just buy the cheapest model and so far so good. However, I would probably buy another brand that does the same thing....next time. After all these years, they still seem to have manufacturing issues.

I am so glad I did not buy into all the hype over these machines. My good old Mr Coffee is working fine and has been for years now.

I contacted them this AM and they are sending out repair kits mid January. In the meantime, I was told it was OK to continue to use the unit, but to not brew several cups in succession and to stand an arm's length away while it's brewing.
I purchased one in October, which is on their list. I've used it every day since I received it with no problem. However, I only drink one cup a day, so there hasn't been any issue. I purchased a second unit recently, but it doesn't appear to be on their recall list.
However, the C/S person I spoke with this morning at Keurig said that they will send repair kits for both units in mid-January.
I love my K-10!!!!!

You are very understanding. I would have insisted on them sending me a new brewer or I would tell them I am taking my business elsewhere.

Nothing beats the taste of freshly brewed coffee.....I agree with you. My Keurig is only for convenience when I am too lazy to brew an entire carafe.
Another factor is that Keurig coffee doesn't give off that wonderful scent that brewing a carafe of coffee does. I miss that aroma in the morning..

Oh great, this model/serial # is the one I got from QVC this past month! I have made more than 1 cup in a row, but spread somewhat apart, several minutes anyway. I was wondering if this ultra hot water was affecting the taste, so far most flavors taste awful to me. I do like the Hazelnut & Dunkin Donut coffee flavors though.
Just what the heck are we supposed to repair anyway? Would rather have a new machine, but I no longer have the box it came in.

So I guess telling the consumer to stand at arm's length away from the coffee machine will absolve them of the consumer suing them for any burns they might receive if they stand near the machine??
I wouldn't use the machine at all if there was a problem like this!!
I have a Mr. Coffee 5 cup coffee maker and that is perfect-- no worries of water shooting out at me when I brew a pot of coffee.

I haven't had any problems with mine. When I went to check if my serial number was on their list, the website is jammed and the phone is busy. Why don't they just post a list of the affected numbers.

If this is correct, my QVC # is not in this list - my final # are much higher, #524654 & it ends with #81312. Whew!
