@Love my grandkids wrote:@Squirrels Are Trash So. Cal. expat here now in WA state. My son and family live in Redondo Beach an it's only about 74 or 75 there, hotest it's been for awhile. They live a couple of streets away where we lived when he was a kid and get the nice ocean breeze. How I miss that area.
Spent most of my adult life in Torance and it was rare to get into the 80s for more than a few days.
I am in Culver City but have lived in Playa and Hawthorne previously. It just gets hotter these days, much to my disappointment. The dew point has been at 60 degrees since May. At some point, I may go north, like you.

My a/c runs constantly, for a week it was 88 in the house, I know how you feel.
Please take care of yourself and let a neighbor, friend or relative informed each day of how your feeling, don't be afraid to ask for help.xxx
I share a house with someone who never thinks it is hot (he must be broken). I think it's because he works at an office from 6 AM to 7 PM, while I work from home. Oh well.
You take care of yourself in this heat too, my friend.

I'm in northern CA also, its sure been a hot summer! We always have heat but it seems like we usually have more breaks from it.
I'm in Shasta County, and for weeks it's been 107-120. Very hard to keep an even temp in the house with a/c on, it's a struggle.
My utility bill was $460 a month ago, received the newest one, $565.00.
This unbearable heat wave started in early June.
My little brother lives in Lake Shasta and works in Redding; I have been up there a few times but usually wait until Nov when the heat wave has broken to a reasonable temp.
I have a good friend who has a cabin up in Lake Shasta and goes up for the whole summer. He tried his darndest to get me to visit last year, but it's boiling!!!

@KittySoftPaws You are correct. We have a home in Carlsbad (north San Diego) and the highest it's been so far is 80's I believe, and the water is cold. We have pretty mild temperatures.
Funny, you also mentioned Hawaii. Our second home is in Kauai and it hasn't been as cold this July as other years. In fact, we were there a large portion of last month and we all talked about how it was the coolest July we've ever seen.
I feel bad for everyone here experiencing the high temperatures. I know it can make people irritable, difficult to sleep, and just make you feel ill. Hopefully the weather changes for you all soon.

We all need to think about the causes and effects of global warming.

I'm also in Redding, bloody hot here.
My little brother works as a cook at the Olive Garden, he's been there 10 years or so.
