I don't begrudge any country for their traditions....they may mean the world to the citizens, even though they don't have the same meaning to others. I can't imagine why anoyone would fault them for continuing their traditions as they have through history. Their country...their choice. Despite what many have posted, the Brits adore the royal family...with the exception of a few members who I can't mention or will be poofed immediately
Love the pic of the Queen on her horse...beautiful uniform, beautiful horse, and beautiful Queen. She was certainly born for that role.

I recall that. For those who don't recall, the question begs to be asked ... on what date is "Juneteenth"? Who thought the word, with no actual date, was a good idea?

Good point. Since this is probably our "newest" national holiday, it would be nice if it had an actual date. JMO, of course.

Some historians speculate that the name Juneteenth was specifically vague on the exact date because of the times. June 19th is the day that the news of the emancipation reached Texas and was proclaimed there. It was received in other parts of the South on different days during June.
@Cakers3 I wasn't trying to go off topic, defend or rub anyone the wrong way. Sorry if I offended you.

Juneteenth is June 19. Miss Opal Lee was instrumental in getting this to become a national holiday. She walked hundreds of miles for her cause. She will be walking, at age 96, on Monday in honor of Juneteenth. It will be 101 degrees, she has lots of family who will be with her

The birthday bash seems to have come off well. King Charles returned to the tradition of riding horseback at "trooping the color"--
When I posted the picture of the late Queen doing it, way upthread, I didn't realized she had given up doing it while mounted on horseback in 1986.
Anne, seen behind Charles, and William, among others, also rode this year.
Here's part of what they're inspecting--
Of course, the kids have to get in on the act. Cute-- I like the boys' red, white and blue color schemes, and Charlotte's timeless sailor dress, for the occasion. Children in sailor suits, love.

The children are growing so fast...I agree, I love sailor suits on them. The double-breasted jackets on the princes are just perfect.

You're right, @Trailrun23 -- and the brass buttons on those blazers, so appropriately nautical....
