KIND ACTS you've received lately....

Husband had knee surgery a few weeks ago. Since this time, our driveway and sidewalks stay clear when snow falls. Between neighbors and family -- people have been so kind. I'll be making Snickerdoodle cookies and making deliveries this week! I'd love to hear your experiences of generous acts by strangers or caring people you know.

My manager from my seasonal job has recommended me for a permanent position.

I don't know if I'll want to take it, but he has been very kind and encouraging to me.

Yesterday my cousin from Houston who I don't see often sent me a just because card with $20 to have lunch/dinner on her. I thought that was very sweet and totally unexpected.

What a nice thread, ury. It's a pleasure to read of kind acts when so much of the news is awful.

When I was recently very sick from stomach flu, the resident volunteers here at our retirement community were so very good to me. Checking in several times a day to see that I had all I needed, including broth and other fluids. They even spot cleaned and restocked my bathroom, etc. I can't tell you how much it meant to me, but I will certainly try to repay their kindness whenever possible.

Talk about lifting spirits! I love your stories. I find the kindness I observe encourages me to reach out to others more.

A couple weeks ago, the car ahead of me at the drive thru paid for my coffee. This is the second time it's happened in the last year. The other time was at a different place. It caught me off guard, in a good way.

Twice now, in the last month or so, I've had my vehicle winched out of snow-filled ditches by kind strangers, who would accept no payment for their time and trouble.

God bless all good samaritans!

Glad you have great neighbors. A person really finds out the ""real ones"" during a time of need. Hope all goes well for your husband.

The very young children who are being raised by their grand moms (who I know) waving to me from a long distance away when they are with their moms (who don't know me, and I don't know the moms). Anyway........so rewarding, and very kind of their grand moms to raise their young toddler grandchildren to smile and automatically wave at their neighbors, (without any prompting).

What a treat to have your food items paid for! I love that, graycats. It's got to put a smile on your face that stays all day.

DeLaney - I'm always amazed when people with resources or equipment do simple acts of kindness -- and think they didn't do much. Especially when without that act of kindness -- it would have been a hassle for us. What a great thing when people use their skills and gifts to assist others.

Thank you, John. Husband going to physical therapy and is doing much better. Yes, we do have good neighbors. In fact, a middle-school girl (new neighbors) needs a ride to school in the morning because her family moved mid school year and there's no bus service to her old school. She wants to finish middle school with her friends before she goes to a new high school next year. Her middle school is on my way to work in the morning so I'm dropping her off at school. Her little brother is in a wheel chair and goes to a special school without bus service - the opposite direction of his big sister. Her mom and dad (he travels on business a lot) work with my husband and husband learned about their inconvenience when mom was late for a business meeting. Because of my neighbors' recent kind acts, it made me want to reach out to our new neighbors and help where I can. Paying it forward!

Romary - my heart goes out to grandparents raising the next generation. We have a friend who is late 50s, raising his first-grade grandson until his daughter can get her life figured out. These guys adore one another. I don't know where this little guy would be without his grandpa.
