Porcelain, I agree with you--most of our issues are what are called "first world" problems.

We Americans take all our great opportunities too much for granted, and do not really know how many people across the globe are seriously suffering and struggling.

We have many strong government support systems that do not exist anywhere else.

Additionally, issues like inflation are now caused by worldwide events, such as a two-year pandemic, and cannot just be easily solved by our politicians.

People from everywhere want to come to the USA, so we must be doing something right!

These days my heart is with all those in Ukraine.

I'm going to have to practice this one. Thank you! It's like an entire sentence in one word. Woman Very Happy

We are incredibly incredibly lucky. Just the freedom to argue and disagree with each other is a precious right that so many have to do without.

Knowing we have a roof over our heads...not everyone has that. Even in our own country. But more so in places where even the safe havens, hospitals, shelters, kindergartens... are being bombed. Where do you run to when nowhere is safe anymore. We are so lucky to even have any safe places to run to.

Can any of us imagine how terrified we would feel if we ran to safety and then our safe shelter was bombed over and over until it collapsed and we were shot while trying to rescue ours children from the rubble?

While we waited in the shelter we would tell each other and our children, "surely they will know it's a hospital. Surely they will not target a hospital." "Surely they know we have children hiding in here. They won't kill our children."

[ Edited ]

@Porcelain But there are many that do not have a ROOF over their heads right here in my city, or in San Fran, or in every part of OUR country.  I am sad that some people overlook OUR Americans first.  Sure, we don't have to worry about bombs, today, but we have to worry about bullets flying,  I don't know how you can speak for all by saying "we're incredible lucky" Just because we don't have bombs over our heads, we have many natural disasters that render us homeless and helpless. We have high prices, where families have to figure out how to pay rent, buy food, buy gas, and it goes on and on.  I obviously don't consider us all "incredibly lucky" just because we are alive tonight.  Just my opinion only.

And happening just now, a tornado touched down in New Orleans, previously damaged by hurricane Katrina.  Yes I am keeping it in perspective, and I will pray for the people affected by the Texas and now Louisiana storms.

@ThinkingOutLoud You said it perfectly! There’s always going to be somebody worse off. It doesn’t mean we should keep silent about our own problems.

Re: KEEPING IT IN PERSPECTIVE ...

@new nickname 4 I mentioned homeless Americans in my post. I can understand how it would be easy to miss. So no offense taken here.

The bold is where I talked about our own homeless. We have homeless in every community in the United States. My point is that at least here, we have places to run to for safety and shelter. If we were living in an invasion, there would be nowhere safe to run, regardless of whether we once had a home.
