I eat kale a lot. I also really like quinoa. ;-)

Noel, OT but do you watch Orphan Black?

When we go there, I'd like to hear your suggestions for prepping Quinoa.

I know I am not celery but I make cold salads out of mine a lot. I cook it with lemon and/or limes. Drain really good then add olive oil, vinegars and sometimes I do it greek with feta, med. veggies, olives and med herbs. Sometimes I do in an Italian way. Right now I have some lemon juice, oregano, feta, roasted red peppers, sliced olives, chopped mint, lemon zest, garlic and red onion. Salt an pepper of course.

I make it in a similar way.

What I love even more is farro. I cook it in chicken broth and herbs. Drain. I love it as a cold salad with all the grilled summer veggies, olives, feta, roasted peppers......you name it, I through it in.

We love farro too! We do the same salad wise and also add to soups. We like wheatberry too.

Sydney do you have a FreshMarket or Wholefoods? I have actually gotten the quinoa (and farro and wheatberry) at Big Lots of all places. I got it thinking I wouldn't like it at all and it is the one I actually like the most. I don't usually buy food at Big Lots as my grocery shopping is usually done by the time I hit that place up but I am really happy with their quinoa.

Told ya, lol. I might just have to bite the bullet and buy a 25 lb bag. Should last a couple of months.

Re: KALE: Like It Or Leave It?

I absolutely can say that I HATE kale. And as my dad used to say its like eating rabbit food...lol.. Dad (God rest his soul) and I preferred ICEBERG lettuce in our salads. I don't even care for the Spinach in salads but I eat it. lol. And PS) At one of my old jobs I used to decorate the bowls of cold food IN the case WITH kale.

TJ had a couple great frozen items with spinach in them. In the last year, they added kale. Not a fan of the new taste.

Besides the cumin, this is almost exactly how I make mine. These are great in the summer when it is really hot out. I need to try cumin because I do like it.

Sydney, it is the grain of wheat. Kind of nutty in flavor.

Re: KALE: Like It Or Leave It?

Irish, I use cumin and smoked paprika quite a bit, so I pay a little more for a higher quality product when it's available. I'll have to check out farro, sounds tasty and versatile.

I like cumin and use it too but I usually just use it with Tex Mex or Mexican style foods. I just never thought of putting it in a salad like that. It is a good idea.

I thought of you as soon as I saw it, it is similar. I love cumin and it also has health benefits.
