Justice - Porch Pirates

[ Edited ]

I just watched a video in Ohio, where a mid 30's woman was arrested, she had also recruited a 15 year old to help, steal packages from porches.

When the cops pulled her over, she had over 30 packages, belonging to other people, worth thousands of $$$.

She was actually crying like a child asking for her "mommie". The 15 y.o. still had his ski mask on.

During questioning, she admitted that she needed money for her rent, then feigned a panic attack.

It was nice to see those people get their packages back and to see her hauled off to jail.

The 15 y.o. was taken to juvie.

ETA: Before she admitted they were following a UPS truck, she tried to say the boxes were empty and she planned to use them to make gingerbread houses.

What is the most disturbing and disgusting aspect of this is making a child complicit in this series of crimes.

Hope she's charged with Ohio's equivalent of Corrupting the Morals of a Minor.

I saw a YouTube video where the homeowner came out to get his package just as the thief was coming up his porch. The guy ran off, got in his car, and got stuck in the snow right there at the end of the driveway. After a little bit of taunting,  the homeowner was telling him how to turn the wheel and get out of the snow.  He was a lot nicer than I would be!

Gee, as he was chasing and taunting this thief did he ask if the perp was armed?

Or was his Amazon package so important  it was okay to lose his life over it?

😲Score one for JUSTICE!!!!!!👏👏👏 I do not know her story, and it might very well be quite tragic, but that does not condone organized STEALING with the help of a minor! It's unconscionable!!!😐

There are MANY assistance programs available in our beautiful country, so it makes her story less credible! Her need for rental assistance is no excuse for thievery!😐

I feel awful for that poor teen being led down the wrong path by someone who should be HELPING him to become a responsible member of society; not steal from it!!🤔

It might be a LONG shot, but I hope there are services available to help steer him in the right direction, and perhaps outreach services for her if she was in fact desperate, and panicked, or is perhaps supporting a drug habit.🤞🤞🤷‍♀️

Just sad all around!😐

I read that somewhere a man was so fed up with the pirates that he purposely filled boxes with dog poop.  When the pirates took the packages, they never came back.

Lots of porch pirates in my neighborhood. I try to be home when I see from tracking that a package is due to arrive.

I've been victim of porch pirates, caught right on camera. We have to be diligent these days.

Hopefully UPS drivers can be more aware of the same car following them for extended periods.

In my case UPS covered the loss, because the driver left in on my walkway, not my porch, which is protocol.
