For me   I went to the trouble to put it all up, I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can, at least another week.

We put our tree up BEORE Thanksgiving this year, and it's not coming down until at least Jan 2.  I never understood the rush to get back to "normal."  This is a beautiful season and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

You are probably  right.  They do put their tree up the day after Thanksgiving.

I think supermarkets and department stores have conditioned us to move on immediately after a holiday..  It's crazy, but I've felt it.  Having Christmas decor still up this week makes me feel like I'm wrongly clinging to the holiday.  But I have out-of-town guests later in the week so must leave everything decorated.  By then I'll feel like a mental patient obsessed with Christmas.

I put up 4 trees this year, so I know my family thinks  I'm  mental.

Do they have a real tree?  They only last so long.  That often dictates when I take decorations down.  I will leave the Christmas wreath on the front door until next week though.

None of your business really. I hear a lot of disappoval. Is your relationship with your family worth getting upset about when they do or do not take down their tree?

A tree with no presents under it makes me sad. That's why I used to pick the tree up asap. Don't put one up anymore. We enjoy seeing the ones at other's homes, but just don't have the urge to put one up.

@Renata22, I'm getting to that point.  Next year, I might just put up the little pre decorated 2ft trees that we have and give away the 7 ft one.  Every year in order to put the big tree up we have to push a table over in a corner and it looks unnatural there.

@Renata22, I'm with you. I like decorations, and some years feel like getting mine out, but other years, not interested. I've taken them down right away and left them well into January. At one time, I felt people who didn't decorate must be sad, but I finally figured out they're just suiting themselves. Love that!

Now my favorite "tradition" is that I get to do what I feel like each year. This year, we had a nice "Peace" sign on my front door, and some holiday cards we'd received were on the mantel, and that's all I wanted. Well, the cards are still out for another few days, and I'm thinking of leaving the door decoration up, since it's not red and green. As for next year...I'll know when I get there!
