Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

Maybe they do not want their unmarried son under their roof with his girlfriend. They could have some kind of moral or religious convictions your niece isn't aware of.

Hopefully she realizes that is all a red flag and to just cut him loose and be grateful she found out what he and his parents are like.

Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

I would’ve left as quickly as possible. The guy and his parents sound creepy and very strange. I’m sorry, but I think your niece probably has low self esteem to put up with that for four days without speaking up.

Re: Just when I thought I had heard everything

I might, with emphasis on the might--have understood if they wanted her to stay in a hotel.  Some people are uncomfortable having people stay in their home.

However, if I'm reading this correctly, she was not in their house at all?  Not for a meal or anything?

yikes.

@AuntG  As soon as I saw the "accommodations" and the housing arrangements were revealed I would have stated CLEARLY and SUCCINCTLY that there must have been some "misunderstanding" and headed home.

She said the parents were very nice when she arrived and seemed proud of having the trailer all set up for her....just as strange as I can possibly imagine. She is a very smart girl..mechanical engineer. I told her not to put a deposit down on a wedding dress and to take a break from each other since she was so upset about the visit....I think she will take my advice, especially since he had to go out of town.

Yikes, something just hit me (y’all please don’t jump on me I promise I’m not trying to start trouble). Are they all the same race?

This whole situation is so bizarre it is making my brain go back to a horrific time when prejudice bloomed unjustly i.e., not allowed in their shower for four days - good grief!?!?

@Duckncover

This is unreal. You tell your niece to run for the hills and dump this guy. The old saying that first impressions stick really holds true here. To treat a "guest" like this is horrible. She doesn't want to be part of this group. This guys folks are really a piece of cake, but the boyfriend is a genuine loser to think this whole situation was "fine" I can't even imagine being put into that kind of situation.

I think the guy is married, and he passed her off as a "business colleague"...

They are all the same race. I think they are just a strange family.
