Yes, a most unusual and inhospitable arrangement.  Maybe they were afraid she was contagious with Covid....or something.  I'd send him packing and make sure he knew why.

I would have left and gone home.  The visit from hell.

The parents sound like kooks and the fact that their son, your niece's boyfriend thought that this was a wonderful, hospitable thing to do says all need to know about him. If I were your niece I would run not walk away from this bunch.

@Duckncover   I agree - that situation is just crazy. and rude.  Parents were out of line and the boyfriend - well it says a lot about him.  She must be heartbroken and in shock.  He's not worthy of her.  Hope she realizes that and walks away from him.  It's terrible to find out someone is not what you thought they were.

They haven't lived together as far as I know. She shares a condo with another girl and he lives downtown where he works.

I don't know what their " deal " is yet. I do know he travels for his job a lot and he was out of town for several days after they flew back home,

She never mentioned Covid so I don't think that was an issue. I just think the parents are nutcases and their son is a chip off the old block.
